The sole of the Nike Mind 001 is covered in small nubs—sensory nodules strategically placed beneath the arch of the foot. The concept draws direct inspiration from foot reflexology, a practice involving the stimulation of specific areas of the foot to promote muscle relaxation. Nike developed this concept at its Sport Research Lab with a clear goal: to create a shoe that helps the body unwind after physical exertion. The sensation is disorienting at first, then becomes genuinely pleasant. And that is where the magic happens. The design itself is deliberately minimalist and futuristic. There are no laces or fastening systems—just a rigid strap (or a knit version on Flyknit models) and that signature sole. Nike has achieved something rare: a product that is as intriguing as it is functional.
