WOMANDLA: THE VANGUARD SERIES OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES "A CALL TO AWAKEN WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP"

Today, The Vanguard proudly launches a groundbreaking political and motivational empowerment series titled WOMANDLA: The Vanguard Series a powerful scripture of self-affirmation, leadership, and revolutionary sisterhood, authored for every woman who has ever been told to “wait her turn.”

This is not just a release.
This is a movement.
A resurgence.

A call to arms for all women across the political spectrum particularly in the African National Congress and its aligned formations to rise, speak, lead, and break silence where silence once ruled.

WOMANDLA is not inspiration for the faint-hearted it is a flame lit in the footsteps of Charlotte Maxeke, Winnie Mandela, Albertina Sisulu, Adelaide Tambo, and so many more unsung heroines of our revolution.

“You were not sent here to sit quietly.”

This series, authored under the leadership of Comrade Mosa Mokoena, The Vanguard’s Head of Fundraising and Women Empowerment, is a tool of resistance against suppression, emotional manipulation, and patriarchal gaslighting in political spaces. It is also a spiritual compass for women who feel unseen, unheard, or unvalued.

Each chapter was designed to be:

* Read before presentations

* Shared between sisters

Carried into rooms where women are told they’re “too much”

Ward 35 Setshedi Nhlapho Branch – Maranatha Voting District

Today, the African National Congress reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the people of Ward 35 Led by our incoming Councillor, Comrade Mohlamme "Sthee" Petrus, the ANC conducted a heartfelt and militant Door-to-Door Special Vote Campaign in the Maranatha Voting District.

Over 50 elderly and differently-abled residents were personally reached and assisted in exercising their constitutional right to vote in the comfort and dignity of their homes. This act of service was not just a campaign gesture; it was a declaration of love, responsibility, and duty to all who call Ward 35 home.

“Our elders carried the burden of our freedom; it is now our turn to carry them to the ballot box,” said Cde Petrus, emotionally addressing one household in Maranatha.

Let it be known: no amount of negativity, doubt, or political sabotage will deter this historic journey. The ANC in Ward 35 is rooted in the people, and no disability, no age, and no attempt to suppress the will of the people will stop us from reclaiming our future.

Cde Sthee Petrus is not just walking these streets for votes he is walking them in honour of the struggle, in service of the forgotten, and in defiance of all who wish to undermine this community’s voice.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: THE VANGUARD | JUNE 16 COMMEMORATION

Today marks 49 years since the eruption of courage and defiance that defined the Soweto Uprising. On this day in 1976, thousands of Black students took to the streets to reject Afrikaans as a medium of instruction and with it, the entire system of apartheid miseducation. Many paid with their lives.

The Vanguard stands not only to honour their bravery, but to continue the struggle they began. We are the generation that must fulfil their dream by fighting for decolonised, free, and quality education for all.

Let us not romanticize their pain. Let us transform their sacrifice into power, policy, and progress.
June 16 is not just a memorial. It is a reminder that the revolution is incomplete.
