ACCIDENT CLAIMS ONE LIFE ON R546 TOWARDS EVANDER

An accident occurred this evening, 27 September 2025, at about 19h15 on the R546 towards Evander.

It is alleged that the Red VW Polo lost control and overturned.

One occupant was declared deceased at the scene, leaving other occupants with serious injuries.

All emergency personnel swiftly responded to the scene.

Motorists are urged to be vigilant while driving towards this direction.

NETBALL PLAYERS TO FLY THE SOUTH AFRICAN FLAG IN DUBAI

Lebo Mongoato(18) and Buhle Mabena(18) call for assistance from the public to help raise funds to travel to Dubai to represent both the Mpumalanga Province and South Africa.

The trip comes after the two players were selected to play for the Mustangs U/19 Netball team.

The players will be in Dubai for seven (7) days, 26 November 2025 till 02 December 2025.

During the interview with Seskhona Media, the players said that being selected feels like a dream because they did not imagine themselves playing international.

The raised funds will assist with purchasing the plane tickets and accommodation fees. In total, an amount of R100 000.00 for both players is needed.

BETHUEL ZUNGUZA CONGRATULATES NEW GRADUATES

Bethuel Zunguza congratulated new graduates from PTA Vocational College in Secunda, yesterday, 25 September 2025, at the graduation ceremony which was held at Lillian Ngoyi Centre.

This aimed to celebrate and motivate the graduates to continue to work hard towards their dreams.

“I am very proud of all the graduates because this shows potential in the youth of Mpumalanga. We have made a clarion call as the ANCYL that the youth be given job opportunities to reduce the rate of unemployment,” said Zunguza.

Zunguza is a former student at the college and a former member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC, who is now the MMC for Finance in the Gert Sibande District, and the Provincial Chairperson of the ANCYL in Mpumalanga.

SHOW AND SHINE FUNDRAISING MARKET DAY

Highveld Park High School will be hosting a Show and Shine fundraising market day at the school premises, tomorrow, 27 September 2025.

The event aims to raise funds in support of an upcoming trip for two (2) learners from the school, who were selected to play for the Mustangs U/19 Netball team in Dubai on the 26th of November 2025.

The two players will be representing the Mpumalanga Province and South Africa along with other players.

The funds raised will help with transportation and accommodation fees.

Entrance fee: R40

Time: 08h00 - 17h00

Venue: Highveld Park High School, Secunda

Motorists will showcase their stance cars.

SASOLIA PRIMARY SCHOOL WINS R6000 IN CODING AND ROBOTICS

Sasolia primary school participated in the Coding4Mandela Dancing Tournament which took place in July 2024.

Learners from grade 4 - 7 at the school participated in the dance competition and became victorious winning a sum of R6000.00 in cheque with coding and robotics equipment.

MADONSELA FAMILY PLEADS WITH THE PUBLIC TO HELP REBUILD THEIR HOME

A family of six (6) living together in a shack at Ext 18 in eMbalenhle need help after a tragic fire occurred and burnt down the entire shack with their belongings on the 16th of September 2025 at about 15h00.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The family consists of five siblings, four (4) boys and one (1) baby girl, and a 38-year-old woman.

Size of the children: 19-year-old boy who attends school at Sizwakele Secondary School – shoes are size 6, waist is size 28 and a medium size for t-shirts and jerseys.

14-year-old boy who attends school at Kusasalethu Comprehensive School – shoes are size 2, waist is 13/14, and 13/14 for shirts and jerseys.

13-year-old who attends school at Embalenhle Primary School – shoes are size 5, waist is 13/14, and 13/14 for shirts and jerseys.

4-year-old boy – shoes are size 8 (for kids) and size 4-5 for both waist and chest.

Lastly, the 7-month-old baby girl wears size 6-12 months.

They all reside under the guardianship of their mother, who is unemployed.

Anyone who wishes to assist can donate food parcels, blankets, school uniforms, clothes and material to rebuild a new home.

Residents from Steve Biko informal settlement (Ext 26 Marikana) in eMbalenhle lead a peaceful march to the Municipal offices in Secunda this morning, 25 September 2025.

The residents delivered a memorandum of demands, including basic service delivery.

The memorandum was received and signed by the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr Robert Maswanganyi.

KINROSS RESIDENTS INVADE LAND

The residents of Kinross are currently invading land at Ext 30 (Ward 17, Kinross Town)
It is hundreds of people going in there to secure their stands, while the police are trying to prevent further invasion.

According to Kinross police, GMM law enforcement will meet with the community tomorrow, but residents said the meeting will take place while they are securing their land.

One of the residents said he received a message from the Department of Human Settlement, meaning he is a beneficiary of that land.

The police tried to get the ward councillor Rose Nkabinde to intervene, but she could not make it due to her being sick.

The GMM Executive Mayor is also said to be attending a conference.
