Before donating money and goods just be aware that there are too many scammers are using this unfortunate situation, to their benefit. Check the credentials and support registered NPO's etc. If the Gift of the Givers had to remain in South Africa, how are the supplies going to be sent to Nepal...questionable!
FYI.... Gift of the Givers has not gone to Nepal yet because local disaster authorities ( Nepal)
advised international teams to wait while they assess the scale of the disaster.
Reasons for Delay:
*No Formal Request: The Nepalese government has not yet made a formal call or announcement requesting international assistance.
*High Risk: Conditions on the ground are currently too hazardous due to fears of secondary destruction and potential dam collapses.
*Lack of Access: Road infrastructure and access routes to the affected disaster zones are severely damaged or blocked.
