Cape Winelands FM to change its logo

Cape Winelands FM will change its logo after being granted and issued a sound broadcasting license by ICASA in July 2026.

The radio station which has been broadcasting ONLINE since 01 April 2021 has been granted and issued with three frequencies namely 92.8fm in Stellenbosch, Paarl and surroundings. 92.6fm in Worcester & surroundings and 89.9fm in Hexriver (meaning) De doorns and the surroundings.

Members of communities from different areas such as Paarl, Stellenbosch, Kraaifontein and Klapmuts held a community meeting at Klapmuts (Top Billing) on Saturday 25th July 2026 to receive the great news about the sound broadcasting license and the way forward.

Mr Thembelani Titiya from Kayamandi, Stellenbosch said he's so excited about this radio station as he believes it will turtle local news especially the increasing murder rate in Kayamandi and surroundings.

Mr Inga Mntengwana said the license will help a lot as the station won't just do its activities online but also on air as well, referring to the recent school outreach program which the organization has conducted in some of the schools in the above mentioned towns.

Mr Earnest Mlindwa, who's been very active in the sport department of the station, said he has no words to speak, but he could only say "time is now"

The radio station is planning to go live on air in the due course as it has it antennas and transmitters which it purchased when it was granted and issued with a special event broadcasting license in 2024, broadcasting that years heritage event for five days in that year.

Witness in Madlanga commission shot dead

Marius Van Der Merve who was a witness in the Madlanga commission was shot and killed in the full view of his family in Brakpan on Friday evening.

Van Der Merve who is the owner of QRF task team was witness D who testified virtually on 14th November before the commission which is currently probing allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system.

SAPS top management attended the crime scene.
