The South African Heritage Council has commenced works to rehabilitate the Monument of Adam Kok III. The EG Pioneer Council is aware of the works and we expressed our concerns regarding public consultation and their lack of consultation with the EG Pioneer Council. We met with Mr Madida from SAHRA at the site yesterday and we reiterated our concerns and expressed our dissatisfaction about certain matters which has resulted to an urgent meeting for next week. We recognise the relevance for protecting the site and therefore the EG Pioneer Council made sure the site is fenced off and locked. The site is gazetted as a National Heritage Site.

Dear Griqua Volk,

The East Griqualand Pioneer Council, has claimed the original boundaries of East Griqualand and all land that belong to Adam Kok III. At a rally, held in the capital town of East Griqualand, Kokstad on the 23 March 1996, the Chairperson and Leader of the Griquas of East Griqualand made it clear that he would claim every millimeter of land that belongs to the Griquas. The EG Pioneer Council has a registered claimed which the South African Government is dealing with.

Please note that the meeting being held in Rietvlei today is NOT a meeting of the East Griqualand Pioneer Council which is also a researched organisation by the Presidency, the former Department of Constitutional Development and the current Department Cogta. It is the only organisation recognised by government from East Griqualand that formed part of the Griqua National Forum of South Africa.

Rietvlei, the town and surrounding farms form part of our claim. Important meetings especially where land is on the agenda will always and I emphasise will always be discussed in Kokstad.

God bless our people and keep them safe.

Our most sincere condolences to the Walstroom family. Martin, may your soul rest in peace, son of East Griqualand. Martin or "Mattie" as the Chairperson would call him was a former secretary of the East Griqualand Pioneer. To God be the Glory Great things He has done. May we all know that God is our comforter. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts, blessed be the name of the Lord.

On the 19 Feb 2023 I posted on this page the Traditional and Khoi San Leadership Act being challenged at the Constitutional Court.
In brief, the court declared the Act unconstitutional. The EG Pioneer Council will study the judgement and discuss same in detail soon. Also I share the communication from the Khoi and San Commission.

Dear Griqua Volk

Please note that this notice is shared via newspaper and social media platforms. THIS IS NOT A MEETING OF THE EG PIONEER COUNCIL.

When the EG Pioneer Council invites all Griquas to a meeting/"Volk meeting", such a meeting would be held in KOKSTAD, the Capital Town of East Griqualand.

The Great Griqua Rally held on 23 March 1996, where all Griquas in South Africa was United was held in Kokstad.

We trust that we are clear about this notice my Volk.

God bless.
