This little postcard slipped out of my notebook today — one I designed for Gordonsbury NY a while back. It features my own little girl, back when she was still tiny and had those wild, curly locks.

I absolutely love working on this brand. It always brings me back to how fleeting those baby days are — how soft, how precious, how fast.

I was in Cape Town earlier this month visiting family and couldn’t resist a quick beach shoot while I was there. There’s something quietly magical about the ocean in winter — soft light, salty air, and just enough wind to keep things interesting.

A small pause, a bit of play, and the Mother City doing what she does best.

I had the joy of photographing B’s Cottage, a beautiful new Airbnb at Fairbairn Street 42, designed by my talented friend Marilouise. Every corner of this charming space tells a story — from the considered interior to the layered, soulful details she’s so well known for.

I loved exploring it through my lens… and best of all? We finally made it into the same photo — she’s mid-door swing and I’m a reflection in the mirror, but hey, I’ll take it!

My winter “working” holiday kicked off with a dreamy three-day shoot at Swellendam Self Catering Cottages — cameras, carbs, and my girls in tow. Pure joy.

I had exactly one day in between to edit a mountain of footage (and eat toast standing up) before packing a fresh bag and heading straight into another three-day shoot at Umshanti.

Tired? Absolutely. Grateful? Beyond. Happy? Like you can’t believe.

This is the kind of tired I’ll take any day.

When your friend manages a lovely group of self catering cottages and asks you and your kid to “come model and shoot some content,” you pack your camera, your appetite, and zero shame.

Homemade soup for dinner, bagels for breakfast (she knows me), and courtyard snack platters with wine to end the day. We worked hard — but laughed harder.

And just like that, my winter “working” holiday kicked off in the best way possible. Mila’s a pro. I’m available for bookings. Payment in carbs acceptable. Swellendam Self Catering
