There’s something about a little ribbon in the wind that feels like a reminder to loosen your grip and let the season carry you somewhere new.

Out here in the Overberg, surrounded by fynbos and mountains, inspiration often comes in the smallest details. A texture, a movement, a colour, a fleeting moment that somehow stays with you.

This is the kind of thing I love capturing for MT Studios. Simple, familiar and just a little nostalgic.

There’s something about this landscape that always pulls me back to myself.

The Overberg, the fynbos, the mountains, the late afternoon light. It all feels familiar in a way that is hard to explain. A reminder to keep noticing, keep creating and keep making space for the things that inspire me.

Sometimes the best ideas don’t come from sitting behind a desk. They come from getting outside, following the light and letting the landscape do the talking.

There are few places I’d rather be than behind my camera, somewhere out in the Overberg with fynbos all around me.

This time of year is such a gift. Everything feels full of texture, colour and tiny details just waiting to be noticed. It’s often these landscapes that inspire my work long before I ever sit down to design anything.

Camera in hand, boots in the veld, chasing the light and collecting little pieces of this place I love along the way. This is very much where MT Studios begins.

This time of year always makes me a little nostalgic. Maybe it’s the change of season, but suddenly I find myself longing for home, for familiar roads, old memories and the places that shaped me.

I’m incredibly lucky to still have both my parents, pictured here on their wedding day, and the family home I grew up in still waiting for me.

So I think it’s time to hit the road, head back to my old hood and fill the cup a little. Sometimes going home is exactly what you need.

There’s something about a change of season that always brings a fresh burst of inspiration.

The Overberg fynbos is in full bloom at the moment, and I’m so excited to be out there capturing it all. The colours, the textures, the tiny details and the landscapes I get to call home are finding their way into a whole new season of work for MT Studios.

And there’s a shift happening behind the scenes too. Two new team members are joining me on this little quest of mine, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge in digital marketing and web design. It means I can now offer my clients even more, while still keeping the photography, design and storytelling at the heart of everything we do.

I pass this building every day. On the school run, on the way to the shops, on the way pretty much anywhere really. This is my part of town.

I absolutely love the architecture. It feels slightly otherworldly, like it belongs to another time and somehow just carried on standing here while everything else moved around it.

Swellendam is full of these old gems, but this one I’m claiming for myself. If that’s okay.
