As a theological scholar and pastor, I believe that active citizenship is part of our responsibility to one another.
Faith teaches us that we are not called to live only for ourselves. We are called to care for our neighbours, to seek justice, to protect the vulnerable, and to work towards the wellbeing of our communities.
Democracy gives us a peaceful and meaningful way to participate in shaping the society we want to build.
That is why I encourage every South African to register to vote, show up to vote, and encourage others to do the same.
We may be disappointed by the failures of our democracy. We may be frustrated by poor leadership and the challenges facing our communities. But disengagement cannot be the answer.
If we want a better future, we must participate in creating it.
Our faith should not make us passive citizens. It should inspire us to become responsible stewards of our communities and our nation.
🗳️ Register. Show Up. Vote.
The future of our families, our communities, and our country requires our participation.
