DZATA SECONDARY SCHOOL LEARNERS GAIN HANDS-ON AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOL GARDEN

NZHELELE – Learners from Dzata Secondary School in Nzhelele are gaining practical agricultural skills through hands-on activities in the school vegetable garden as part of their Agricultural Management programme.

The learners were spotted working in the garden, applying the knowledge they acquire in the classroom to real-life farming practices.

Through the practical lessons, learners are exposed to important agricultural activities, including crop production, garden management and sustainable food production.

The initiative aims to equip learners with practical skills that can contribute towards food security and encourage interest in agriculture as a career and economic opportunity.

TSHILIDZINI HOSPITAL DOCTOR FUNERAL UNDERWAY AT MPHENI BLOCK C OUTSIDE ELIM

THOHOYANDOU – The funeral service of popular Tshilidzini Hospital doctor Dr Thendo Mufhadi (31) is currently underway at Mpheni Block C, outside Elim.

Dr Mufhadi died in a tragic head-on collision on Saturday morning when the Volkswagen Polo GTI he was driving collided with a BMW near the Tshisaulu Sasol filling station, next to Shayandima Shopping Centre, outside Thohoyandou.

He was certified dead at the scene, while the BMW driver and a passenger were transported to Tshilidzini Hospital for medical treatment.

Family, friends, colleagues and community members have gathered to pay their final respects to the young doctor, whose passing has left many mourning.

VHEMBE MUNICIPAL MANAGER KUTAMA REMAINS EMPLOYEE OF MUNICIPALITY, SAYS SPOKESPERSON

VHEMBE – Vhembe District Municipality spokesperson Moses Shibambu says Municipal Manager Norman Kutama, who has been the subject of dismissal claims since Friday, remains an employee of the municipality and is currently on leave.

Shibambu told Capricorn FM News that a special council meeting has appointed Dr Daily Maputja as acting Municipal Manager while Kutama is away.
He said Kutama is on an unspecified type of leave and will return to his position once the leave period ends.

The municipality has expressed concern over what it described as the spread of false information in the public domain, urging residents to verify information before sharing it.

Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance (DA) Limpopo leader Jacques Smalle has raised concerns over the lack of transparency surrounding the process that resulted in Kutama being placed on leave.

Smalle said the municipality should provide clarity on the reasons behind the decision and ensure that proper procedures are followed.

The developments come amid public interest surrounding the leadership of the Vhembe District Municipality.

THOHOYANDOU - A popular doctor at Tshilidzini Hospital was killed in a tragic car accident on Sunday morning.

The doctor, identified as Thendo Mufhadi was driving in his new Volkswagen Polo GTI collided with a BMW next to Tshisaulu Sasol filling station next to Shayandima Shopping Center in the Vhembe District.

The well - known doctor was certified dead on the scene while the driver of the driver and passenger in the BMW were taken to the Tshilidzini hospital.

BEITBRIDGE TRUCK CONGESTION EASES AS SA AND ZIMBABWEAN OFFICIALS INTERVENE

MUSINA — Heavy freight truck congestion outside the Beitbridge Border Post in Musina has begun to ease, with queue lengths dropping from 20 kilometres to approximately 8 kilometres on Wednesday following bi-national engagements between South African and Zimbabwean border authorities.

The gridlock, which built up over the weekend along the N1 corridor, was primarily caused by operational constraints on the Zimbabwean side. According to South Africa’s Border Management Authority (BMA) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS), operations on the South African side remained fully functional, while limited parking capacity, slower cargo clearance, and a high volume of parked abnormal-load vehicles slowed movement into Zimbabwe.

"We have engaged our counterparts in Zimbabwe to try and find solutions to this problem, and we also engaged the truck park owners on the corridor. We have also engaged with provincial traffic departments to assist us to temporarily suspend the movement of abnormal trucks to clear the backlog."

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) confirmed it has deployed extra resources alongside other border agencies to expedite clearance processes, with expectations that the remaining freight backlog will be cleared over the next 24 to 48 hours.

POLICE APPEAL FOR HELP TO FIND A MISSING 14 YEAR-OLD GIRL IN MALAMULELE PRECINCT

MALAMULELE - The Police in Malamulele urgently appeal to members of the public to assist in locating a missing 14 year-old female victim, Masingita Hlungwani.

It is reported that Masingita went to a salon on Saturday 18 July 2026 at about 14:00. She left the salon afterward to an unknown location and has since disappeared and her cellphone has been off since.

She was last seen wearing black leggings, a pink T-shirt, white jersey and navy blue shoes.

Police together with family members conducted searches at friends and surrounding areas but there has been no success in locating a 14 year-old female victim.

Anyone who has information that may assist in locating Masingita Hlungwani is urged to immediately contact the Investigating Officer Lieutenant Colonel Fhumulani Ragimana on 0822290229 or crime stop number 0860010111 or nearest police station or MySAPSApp.

35 - YEAR OLD WOMAN STABBED AND ROBBED OF HER CELLPHONE AT HER HOME IN SASELAMANI

SASELAMANI - Police in Saselamani have launched a manhunt for an unknown suspect following a house robbery during which a 35-year-old woman was stabbed at Nkavele Village New Stands under the Saselamani policing area in the Vhembe District.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at around 22:00 on Thursday, 09 July 2026.

The victim was at home with her two young children when an unknown male entered the yard and demanded a cellphone. During the robbery, the suspect took the victim’s cellphone before stabbing her in the upper body.

He subsequently fled into nearby bushes.

Despite her injuries, the victim managed to report the incident in person at Saselamani Police Station. She was later transported to local Hospital for medical treatment.

BREAKING NEWS | MAN DIES AFTER WIFE BURNS HIM WITH HOT WATER IN TSWINGA

THOHOYANDOU-A man has died after he was allegedly poured with hot water by his wife at Tswinga, outside Thohoyandou, in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services declared the man dead at the scene, while police are currently investigating the incident. Forensic officials are also on site to collect the body.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear at this stage, police are at the scene.

POWER OUTAGE ALERT | 📌 MAKHADO AREAS

A number of areas under Makhado Municipality are currently experiencing power outages due to maintenance at the Makhado main Substation.

The areas that are experiencing interrupted supply are :
Makhado town, Tshikota, the Central Business District, the industrial area, Newtown, Old Town and Makhado Park.

Power is expected to be restored at 18 : 00 this evening.
