FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jungle Films and Theatre Studios Announces Complete Removal of LEKGOBA for Full Reshoot

Dennilton, South Africa – July 9, 2025 – Jungle Films and Theatre Studios officially announces the complete removal of its feature film LEKGOBA from YouTube and all social media platforms as the project enters a full reshoot phase.

Directed by Obert Mohlamonyane, LEKGOBA had been publicly released with trailers shared across various platforms. However, following critical internal reviews and key feedback from early viewers, the studio has made the firm decision to withdraw all published content and undertake a comprehensive reshoot of the film.

“This is not a temporary pause,” said Obert Mohlamonyane, Director of LEKGOBA. “We are removing the film entirely from public platforms to rework the story, performances, and technical quality. The version that was shared will not return. What comes next will be a completely reimagined and elevated take on LEKGOBA.”

The original trailers and promotional material shared to date will not be reposted. Any content hinting at a return of the original cut is unofficial and should be disregarded.

The decision reflects Jungle Films and Theatre Studios' ongoing commitment to artistic excellence and authentic African storytelling. The studio will announce further updates including a new release date once the reshoot and post-production process is complete.

Obert Mohlamonyane Returns to Film Directing with LEKGOBA (The Addict)
Multidisciplinary Artist Reclaims Spotlight with Bold New Feature Film

South African writer, actor, film director, and contemporary dancer Obert Mohlamonyane is making a triumphant return to the cinematic and theatrical forefront with his latest feature film, LEKGOBA (The Addict). Known for his dynamic storytelling and versatility across artistic disciplines, Mohlamonyane’s comeback marks a pivotal moment in South Africa’s creative landscape, blending raw narrative ambition with his signature exploration of human complexity.

-A Legacy of Artistic Innovation
Mohlamonyane’s career is a tapestry of groundbreaking contributions to film and theater. His 2020 film "The Pressure" showcased his early prowess as a writer-director, earning acclaim as the official selection to represent Sekhukhune District at the Venda Thohoyandou Film Festival. The project solidified his reputation for crafting narratives rooted in South African socio-cultural realities.

In theater, Mohlamonyane has repeatedly captivated audiences at the prestigious South African State Theatre. His lead role in Desperate Measures demonstrated his acting depth, while Two Different Sides of the Same Coin (The Twins) —a two-man show he co-wrote, directed, and starred in—highlighted his ability to dissect duality and human connection. Similarly, his play Why Us?, which he both wrote and directed, further cemented his reputation as a visionary unafraid to tackle pressing societal questions.

LEKGOBA, translating to “The Addict,” promises to be a visceral exploration of addiction, identity, and redemption. While details remain under wraps, Mohlamonyane describes the film as a “journey into the shadows of compulsion and the light of resilience.

Welcome Back! Obert Mohlamonyane
