A retired policeman, Mr Scott, from Heidelberg, started the vegetable garden on his pavement after his cauliflower was stolen.

He realised that there were people that are hungry in his community, so he decided to cultivate an even bigger garden on his pavement in order to feed more people.

“It makes my heart happy when I see people eating my vegetables”.

“That is why I planted this, because the people are hungry, they need this”

Scott decided to plant beans, tomatoes, eggplants and beetroot for the local community to help themselves to free produce. He hoped that this garden would change how many hungry people there are in his town.

The hope is that this selfless and generous act will inspire more people around South Africa to become proactive in the fight to prevent hunger.

Abert Bredenhann

*Nee.* So klein, so eenvoudig.

Jy Kan Nie Iemand Red Wat Nie Gehelp Wil Word Nie

Ses maande later het Pieter by 'n rehabilitasie-sentrum ingeboek.

Jy gaan huil. Jy gaan wonder of jy reg is. Jy gaan wil opgee.

Soo my raad is HOU OP!

---

Tech firm CEO resigns after Coldplay 'kiss cam' embrace with HR chief goes viral

The chief executive of tech firm Astronomer has resigned after a video appearing to show the CEO and another senior member of staff embracing at a Coldplay concert went viral.

The tech firm said chief executive Andy Byron had tendered his resignation, and that the board of directors had accepted.

"As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding," the company said in a statement.

"Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met."

"The board will begin a search for our next chief executive as co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO."

The resignation comes after CEO Andy Byron and his alleged mistress were captured desperately trying to hide their faces after Coldplay’s “kiss cam” centred on them at a concert in Boston, Massachusetts, on Wednesday.

Byron can be seen holding the woman, reportedly a colleague, in his arms before diving off camera to hide his face.

The woman in the video is believed to be married CEO Byron’s HR chief Kristin Cabot, although this hasn’t been confirmed.

As the pair appeared on screen, laughter erupted in the arena, with Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin quipping: "Oh what... either they're having an affair or they're very shy."

The firm launched a formal investigation into the incident, saying in a statement that its leaders are "expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability."

Byron had reportedly been CEO of software company Astronomer, which is believed to be worth more than ÂŁ1billion, since July 2023.

The footage of the incident, originally shared on TikTok, has been seen by millions since appearing online earlier this week.

A serious impact has been left on the environment, with hazmat teams actively working to clean up the chemical spill in Kranspoort Pass on the N11, where two trucks collided, resulting in one catching fire.

According to first responders, the wreckage of both trucks still remains in the pass, and the chemical cargo that spilt and ran down the embankments of the pass also remains to be cleaned.

The Middelburg Observer reports that two lanes are open, but a motorist has warned that traffic flow is not being regulated, leaving vehicles coming from both directions to weave between lanes.

The chemicals that caught fire last night resulted in noxious fumes filling the pass, as well as a secondary veldfire.

Video footage obtained shows how the chemical fire spreads through the veld in the pass. The video was taken last night.
