POWER ALERT | NKOWANKOWA TRANSFORMER 2 MASTER TRIP INITIATED

NKOWANKOWA – Eskom wishes to inform customers that Nkowankowa Transformer No. 2 has experienced a master trip.

To reduce the load on the remaining transformer and maintain network stability, load rotation has been implemented, affecting the following areas:

Nkowankowa Section A
Dan Village
Lusaka
Mokgoloboto

Load Rotation Schedule:
Block 1: 04:00 – 06:00 | Gudluza & Hetisani
Block 2: 06:00 – 08:00 | Dan Village
Block 3: 08:00 – 10:00 | Simunye, Saint George, Papperdew & Yingisani (NY 44)

Eskom technicians have been dispatched to investigate the cause of the fault and carry out necessary repairs. If Transformer No. 2 is not restored within the indicated periods, load rotation will continue according to the approved Emergency Power Plan (EPP) until the fault is resolved.

EMERGENCY POWER OUTAGE TO AFFECT SEVERAL VILLAGES ALONG KUTAMA SINTHUMULE FEEDER LINE

Residents in several villages under the Makhado Local Municipality are expected to experience a temporary electricity interruption on Thursday, 14 May 2026, due to emergency maintenance work on the Kutama Sinthumule Feeder Line.

According to a public notice issued by the municipality’s Communications Unit, the scheduled power interruption will affect the villages of Tshiozwi, Gogobole, Ramahantsha, and Riverside.

The maintenance work is expected to commence at 08:30 and continue until 17:30.

Municipal officials urged residents to treat all electrical points as live during the maintenance period, warning that electricity supply may be restored without prior notice once repairs are completed.

The municipality also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and encouraged residents seeking further information to contact the municipality on 087 350 2764.

The emergency maintenance forms part of ongoing efforts to stabilise electricity supply and ensure the reliability of infrastructure servicing affected communities.

POLICE INVESTIGATE TRANSFORMER THEFT AT JULESBURG VILLAGE

JULESBURG – Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating the theft of a transformer at Julesburg, near the Rhulani Supermarket hardware store.

According to residents, the incident occurred around midnight when power suddenly went off. Upon inspection, the community discovered that the transformer had been stolen, causing concern and disruption in the area.

Police are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Community members can contact their local SAPS station to provide tips that may help recover the stolen transformer and identify the suspects.

Eskom Limpopo wishes to inform customers of an unplanned outage affecting the Penge Substation supply area. The outage was caused by a fault at the substation, and subsequent transformer tests have failed. The incident is linked to a flashover that occurred within the substation infrastructure.

At this stage, the estimated time of restoration is not yet available. Technical teams are on-site investigating the extent of the damage and working to restore supply as soon as possible.

UNPLANNED POWER OUTAGE | 📌 MAKHADO

Makhado Local Municipality has informed residents about an unplanned power outage currently affecting the following villages: Sane, Mangwele, Tsh*twi, and Madzororo.
