BREAKING NEWS - NEW PIPE IN PERRY JOYNT FAILED AS FORETOLD
The new section of water pipes apparently installed incorrectly by the GTM contractor in Perry Joynt Street, has again failed (unconfirmed at this stage whether it was at the exact same joint where the repairs were done yesterday).
Reportedly the contractor has left the site to Polokwane for the necessary parts and will only return again tomorrow morning.
Aqua Park and other areas were left without water for almost three entire days this week.
This was due to repairs on a section of the pipeline in Perry Joynt Street.
(read the full article in today's Bulletin where we explain how kick blocks should be poured).
Experts warned that the pipes were not correctly installed and pointed out that the concrete pour was also not done correctly.
When they raised concerns over WhatsApp groups, they were silenced by the admins.
According to our sources, the pipes were not installed correctly and the concrete was poured over the entire pipe encasing it, rather than forming kick blocks.
At around 11:40 this morning the water was switched on again... and two hours later the pipe reparations failed leaving Aqua Park without water once more.
The TLB that was being used onsite to try and reach the leak, fell into the trench and a crane truck had to be commissioned to the site to retrieve it from its muddy grave.
How long will the water be off this time? Nobody knows for sure, but it is estimated by our source that it would likely be until Monday.
Still, there are no water tankers in sight.
We do not know at this stage who the contractor is as their vehicles are unmarked.
