Wild Sunshine is a digital lifestyle magazine by David and Adelle Gascoyne based on the kind of magazine they want to read.
Adelle Gascoyne, an SA PeaceWoman and emerging filmmaker and multi-media entrepreneur, started Wild Sunshine with
graphic designer husband, David, on New Year 2020. The name is inspired by the Sunshine Coast and Wild Coast, found in the
Eastern Cape where the couple live and play.
The motivation behind the magazine is to showcase the people and natural beauty of the Eastern Cape and then further abroad into the world. Starting with zero budget, the couple called for volunteers on social media and assembled a small dedicated team, hungry for the kind of content and opportunities the magazine offers.
The monthly magazine will feature:
* inspiring local people, from celebrities to business owners and craftsman who may think of themselves as ‘ordinary’ but have a valuable story and gift to share with the world.
* beautiful SA places from popular tourist spots to hidden gems.
* a bucket list linking SA equivalents alongside international must-visit places and
activities.
* health and beauty content.
* marriage and parenting content.
* home, gardening and food articles.
* packages for tourists to support our craftsman and local business, so while on their African safari they can make a short film or record a song or learn to paint with our local
artists.
* one SA and one African/overseas charity to highlight where tourists or donors can make
an impact with even a small contribution.
In our 1st edition, we have a Gauteng painter, EC goldmith, Mr SA, an township exchange
student in New York, a refugee worker in South Sudan, plus travel articles: Kruger National
Park, Chinese New Year in Taiwan, adventure travelling in Java, and for the bucket list we
have Flower festivals of the world.
Writers and aspiring writers of different demographics from SA and abroad have committed themselves to the magazine on a voluntary basis. The magazine will be available to the public in February 2020.
