Welcome to August! 🌸 This month, I’m doing a 2-in-1 shoutout — celebrating and also acknowledging .

Over the past few months, I’ve been working with Christine from Skinstitute to manage my aggressive psoriasis. I’ll admit, I’m not the easiest patient when it comes to consistency or following advice — but I’m incredibly thankful for Christine’s patience and support, and I’m truly impressed by the DermExcel by Dermal Health Science products!

At , I was fortunate enough to meet the team from while I was marketing my then tourism company, Xplore English. They handed me a notebook with a cover featuring the Capture of Nelson Mandela Monument.

From an artistic point of view, I've always loved this installation because it is both haunting and intriguing at the same time. Both of these emotions were clearly present in Mandela's mind when he was captured—knowing full well that what he was doing was against the law of the land, but also knowing it was for the betterment of humanity.

Over time, the cover has worn a bit, making the image even more distorted—and adding further depth to those emotions. It's a stark reminder to always do what is right, even when others say it is wrong.

As we all know, students can get very creative. This photo was from a house/birthday party I had at a friend's house (thanks Leán and Peet) in Stellenbosch, Merriman Ave, either 2004 or 2005. Note the following "high tech" features: Windows XP, Winamp, "boks screen". 20 Years later, not even Cash Crusaders will accept this! So yes, feels apt to post this on . PS - The old lady next door stormed in and smashed that bowl on the top of the box asking us to shut up! It was still early, she was trespassing, and that dent stayed there until I discarded of the PC.
