Diogo Jota, who was not only a teammate but also a close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, was laid to rest recently. Many fans wondered why Ronaldo, known for his strong bond with Jota, wasn’t in attendance. He has now shared the reason.
🗣️🗣️ “It wasn’t an easy decision not to attend Diogo Jota’s burial. He was more than a teammate—he was family to us. But I had to think beyond myself. My presence there would have caused a distraction. People would shift focus from mourning Diogo to taking pictures and following me around, and I didn’t want that. This moment was about him, not me. I chose to stay away out of deep respect. But Diogo will forever remain in my heart. He was a great player, and an even greater human being.”
