It is finally time for one of the most gifted artists in the country, Babs Radebe to release his debut full length project titled 'Gabadia Ke Matwetwe'.
The multi-talented musician from Bophelong in Vaal embodies the sesotho word: MATWETWE, which can loosely be translated as to imply strength, power, presence, charisma and extraordinary abilities.
Babs Radebe's music journey started in the choir. From singing clap and tap, he added rap and trap as well as everything else in between in terms of music genres, from Gospel, Afro Pop to Reggae, you name it. This mixtape is a blueprint and an expression of that music journey.
The focus was mostly on vocals, at which Babs is remarkably impressive. The inspiration to jump on hip hop beats came about due to Mzansi Hip Hop wave led by the likes of Nasty C, Emtee, AKA, K.O and others as well as Vaal Hip Hop and International Hip Hop artists.
He went on to record his first hip hop single, 'Gabadia Ke Matwetwe', produced by Jeffino Music and released on YouTube in audio format as well as a beautifully constructed music video that precisely resonates with the lyrical content.
The song is the lead single to the mixtape and it consists of genius lyricism meticulously infused with melodic vocals. In fact, the entire project can be summed up as a masterpiece of different sounds created by a lyrical genius who also happens to be a vocalist with a powerful voice.
With songs like Bozza, Story of My Life, and Hake Thibehe, Selemong Sena and many other songs, this project is bound to propel Babs Radebe's music to an even larger audience than he already has. His latest single 'Selemong Sena' featuring Sbutja 016 recently featured on DStv's music channel (Channel O) with visuals that tell a story of the street/pantsula culture that is so synonymous with Vaal.
The โSelemong Sena โ music video also has a guest appearance from Just
