When Rachel Kolisi spoke to Anele Mdoda on 947, the conversation became very real and personal 💔.
She opened up about her life after separating from Siya Kolisi, talking about money, motherhood, and starting over. One part of the interview really touched people online.
Rachel shared that leaving her job to focus on family once felt like the right thing to do. But later, things changed. She found herself needing to ask for money for basic things like toiletries .That was very hard for her because she had always been independent.
She even spoke about how she started hustling at a young age 💪 .At just 11 years old, she was already selling popcorn at school to make her own money.
At 24, life became even more challenging. She had a premature baby and also helped raise Siya’s younger siblings after their mother passed away 👶❤️ .
With Siya often traveling for rugby, Rachel stayed home and took care of everything.
In the end, balancing work and family became too much, and she chose to leave her career.
Now, after their separation in October 2024, Rachel says she feels at peace .She is okay with being on her own and is not rushing into another relationship.
She also kept the Kolisi surname for her children — saying it just makes life easier.
Rachel shared all of this while promoting her documentary Falling Forward ,a story about learning, growing, and finding yourself again.
💬 Would you give up your job for family, or is financial independence too important?.
