Rassie Erasmus can outthink the best rugby minds on the planet. He can mastermind World Cup victories. He can turn a group of players into a seemingly unstoppable Springbok machine.
But put a pair of braai tongs in his handsβ¦
Houston, we have a problem! Asked in an interview if there was something he wasn't good at, Rassie didn't even blink.
His answer? Braaiing!
And this isn't a recent development. Rassie confessed that his braai skills have been questionable since childhood and even during his three years of National Service in the army, he apparently made sure someone else was responsible for keeping the fire going.
Some things never change! Fortunately, there is a solution. Enter Siya Kolisi. Now back in Cape Town, the Springboks' record-winning captain is apparently more than capable of taking control of the tongs.
And Siya learned from one of the best. During his time in Durban, Siya was regularly invited to braais at Tendai βThe Beastβ Mtawarira's house. Only there was a small catchβ¦ He wasn't always just a guest. He was the braai master!
So, Rassie, when you get back home to Cape Town, don't stress about the fire. Leave the rugby strategy to yourself. Leave the braai strategy to Siya.
Just sit back, crack open the conversation and let your captain handle the meat!
