SINAM - Sharpeville is Not a Massacre — presents SINAM Health + Wellness Day, a Nelson Mandela Day initiative taking place at the Sharpeville Human Rights Precinct.
It’s a morning of movement, community, and giving back. And it starts early.
Date: Saturday, 18 July 2026
Venue: Sharpeville Human Rights Precinct
Start Time: 07:00
Activities: 5KM Walk + Aerobics
Registration Fee: R67
Register Online: http://www.sinam.org.za
The R67 isn’t random. It’s Mandela’s 67 years of service. And this year, every cent goes toward the Tlong Sekolong School Shoes Donation Initiative — making sure kids in the community have proper school shoes.
The event will be run under ASA & AVT rules, and medals will be awarded to all participants. So whether you’re walking for fitness, for Mandela, or for the kids, you’re getting recognized for showing up.
More than just a walk:
SINAM has been doing this work in Sharpeville for years. The organization runs programmes around health, wellness, and education, while also addressing gender-based violence, femicide, and men’s mental health.
The name itself is a statement. Sharpeville is Not a Massacre is about rewriting the narrative of the town — from tragedy to healing, from memory to action.
That’s why this day matters. It’s part of the national Mandela Day call to dedicate 67 minutes to service. But in Sharpeville, it’s also about unity and wellness in a community that’s carried so much history.
Partnering with Gauteng Tourism Authority and supported by Gauteng Province, the day brings together sport, health education, and community service under one roof.
How to be part of it:
Registration is R67 and open now at www.sinam.org.za.

Show up at 7:00AM at the Human Rights Precinct. Walk. Move. Talk to your neighbor. And know that your R67 is going directly to putting shoes on a child’s feet through the Tlong Sekolong initiative.
Last year the event drew people together for health and unity. This year the focus is the same, but with a clear goal: wellness for us, and dignity for the next generation.
Because Mandela Day isn’t just about remembering. In Sharpeville, it’s about moving.
