We are pleased to formally introduce **Thulas Kids Chess Club**, a community-based non-profit initiative dedicated to developing young minds through chess and checkers for children from **3 years and above**.

# # # 1. Local Focus & Community Vision

Thulas Kids Chess Club is currently focused on building a strong foundation within the **Pixley Ka Seme Municipality**. Our vision is to partner with **all pre-schools and primary schools within the municipality**, ensuring that every interested child has access to structured chess and checkers education regardless of background.

We believe that talent exists in every community. Our responsibility is to **identify it early, nurture it patiently, and expose it responsibly**.

---

# # # 2. School Partnership Model

Under this initiative:

* All **pre-schools and primary schools** within Pixley Ka Seme Municipality are welcome to join
* Thulas Kids Chess Club will **visit participating schools** to provide structured lessons
* Learners will be taught progressively until they are ready to:

* Compete within their own schools
* Compete against neighbouring schools within the municipality
* Produce outstanding champions who will represent the municipality outside its borders

This approach ensures **healthy local competition**, mentorship, and gradual confidence building before external exposure.

---

# # # 3. Development & Competition Pathway

Our model follows a clear pathway:

1. **Foundation Phase** – Introduction, fun learning, basic rules, thinking skills
2. **School-Level Competition** – Friendly intra-school matches
3. **Municipal-Level Competition** – Inter-school tournaments within Pixley Ka Seme
4. **Champion Development** – Identification of outstanding players
5. **External Competition** – Selected champions compete outside the municipality at higher levels

This structured process allows children to grow naturally without pressure, while building excellence over time.

---

# # # 4. Mentorship & Child Development

Beyond competition, Thulas Kids Chess Club focuses on:

* Mentoring children in discipline, patience, and respect
* Encouraging confidence and decision-making
* Providing a positive, safe, and educational after-school activity
* Supporting academic development through improved concentration and thinking ability

---

# # # 5. Call for Support & Donations

To successfully run this program across multiple schools, **Thulas Kids Chess Club humbly appeals for support and donations**, including but not limited to:

* Chess boards and pieces
* Checkers boards
* Teaching and learning materials
* Transport and travelling costs for school visits and competitions
* Printing and basic administrative resources

Any contribution—financial, material, or logistical—will directly support the development of children within our municipality.

---

# # # 6. Why Support This Initiative

By supporting Thulas Kids Chess Club, partners and donors contribute to:

* Early childhood cognitive development
* Educational enrichment in local schools
* Safe and positive youth activities
* Grassroots talent development
* The future representation of Pixley Ka Seme Municipality in competitive chess

---

# # # 7. Conclusion

Thulas Kids Chess Club is committed to growing strong thinkers from within our own community first. With the support of schools, donors, and community partners, we believe Pixley Ka Seme Municipality can proudly produce its own chess champions while shaping disciplined, confident young leaders.

We would welcome the opportunity to engage further and discuss partnerships, school participation, or donation support.

Thulas Kids Chess Club
Vision, Mission & Operating Framework Statement
1. Introduction

Thulas Kids Chess Club is a non-profit child development initiative dedicated to nurturing young minds through the structured teaching of chess and checkers. The club focuses on children from the age of 3 years and above, using strategic board games as educational tools to develop thinking capacity, discipline, confidence, and life skills from an early age.

The club is founded on the belief that intellectual development is as important as physical development, and that every child—regardless of background—deserves access to opportunities that strengthen their ability to think, plan, and make sound decisions.

2. Vision

To develop a generation of confident, disciplined, and strategic thinkers by introducing chess and checkers as accessible intellectual sports for all children, while creating pathways for academic excellence and professional chess careers.

3. Mission

The mission of Thulas Kids Chess Club is to:

Introduce children to chess and checkers at an early age in a fun, structured, and inclusive environment

Use these games to improve cognitive development, concentration, problem-solving, and emotional control

Provide age-appropriate training programs that grow with the child

Identify and nurture talent for competitive and professional chess pathways

Partner with schools, communities, parents, and sponsors to make intellectual sport accessible and sustainable

4. Core Values

Thulas Kids Chess Club operates according to the following core values:

Child-Centred Development – Every decision prioritizes the well-being and growth of the child

Inclusivity – All children are welcome, regardless of socio-economic background

Discipline & Respect – Teaching respect for rules, opponents, and self

Excellence – Encouraging continuous improvement and commitment

Integrity & Transparency – Ethical governance and responsible use of resources

Fun with Purpose – Learning through enjoyment and positive reinforcement

5. Operational Model

To succeed under different conditions and environments, Thulas Kids Chess Club operates using a flexible, scalable, and sustainable model:

a) Program Structure

Age-based groups (3–5, 6–8, 9–12, 13+)

Structured weekly sessions

Combination of learning, practice, and friendly competition

Gradual introduction of competitive play without pressure

b) Learning Approach

Play-based learning for younger children

Progressive skill development

Positive reinforcement instead of punishment

Focus on effort, thinking process, and behaviour rather than winning alone

6. Community & School Integration

Thulas Kids Chess Club works closely with:

Schools as after-school or enrichment programs

Community centres and churches for outreach programs

Parents and guardians as partners in the child’s development

This approach ensures accessibility, safety, and consistent learning environments.

7. Sustainability & Adaptability

To operate successfully in all conditions, the club adopts a hybrid sustainability model, which includes:

Affordable membership contributions where possible

School-based program fees

Sponsorships, donations, and grants

Volunteer involvement supported by stipends when funding allows

The club is designed to scale up or down depending on available resources without compromising its mission.

8. Talent Development & Career Pathways

For children who demonstrate dedication and talent:

Advanced coaching is provided

Participation in tournaments is encouraged

Alignment with recognized chess bodies is pursued

Long-term pathways toward provincial, national, and professional chess participation are created

9. Governance & Accountability

As a non-profit organization, Thulas Kids Chess Club commits to:

Ethical leadership and sound governance

Financial transparency

Child safeguarding policies

Regular monitoring and evaluation of impact

10. Conclusion

Thulas Kids Chess Club exists to build thinking capacity, discipline, and opportunity from early childhood. Through strategic games, structured programs, and community partnerships, the club aims to empower children not only to succeed in chess, but to carry strong thinking skills into school, life, and future careers.

Thulas Kids Chess Club is not merely teaching a game — it is shaping minds, character, and future leaders.
