🚨 Foreign National Arrested in Odendaalsrus with Drugs Worth R13,900 🚨

A 35-year-old foreign national was arrested in Odendaalsrus on 24 September 2025 after police discovered drugs and cash hidden in his vehicle during a stop-and-search in the Kutlwanong location.

Welkom Public Order Police, assisted by the K9 Section, searched a white VW Polo and uncovered:
• 95 bags of crystal m**h
• 19 bags of nyaope
• 8 mandrax tablets
• R1,125 in cash hidden under the rear passenger seat

The narcotics are valued at about R13,900.

The suspect faces charges of possession and dealing in drugs, as well as contraventions of the Immigration Act. He is due to appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court soon.

🚨 DA Calls for Suspension of Ekurhuleni Deputy Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi 🚨

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni has called for the suspension of Deputy Metro Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi, following allegations linking him to businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

Testimony at the Madlanga Commission alleged that Mkhwanazi facilitated the fraudulent registration of several private vehicles under the municipality’s name, which were then fitted with blue lights reserved for emergency services.

In response, Mkhwanazi has applied for special leave, granted by the municipality, and has expressed readiness to testify before the commission to clear his name.

The DA and other parties argue that allowing him to remain in his role undermines public trust in the Metro Police, stressing the need for a precautionary suspension until the matter is resolved.
