That 59–35 result is a rough one for Boland Cavaliers, especially away in Kimberley. Conceding 59 points usually means the defense got stretched repeatedly, and playing in Kimberley against Griquas is rarely easy — they tend to play with a lot of pace and punish errors hard at home.

On the upside, scoring 35 away from home shows Boland still created opportunities and stayed in the contest on attack for periods. The bigger concern is probably game management and defensive structure rather than attack.

For a side trying to stay competitive in the Currie Cup setup, these kinds of away fixtures can become confidence tests quickly.

The Sanlam Boland Kavaliers have been boosted by the return of James Tedder and Jade Stighling ahead of Saturday’s SA Cup semi-final against the Suzuki Griquas in Kimberley.

The clash will also mark Lunathi Nxele’s 50th appearance for the Wellington outfit.

Tedder returns after completing HIA protocols, while Stighling has recovered from a hamstring injury. Xavier Mitchell, the SA Cup’s top try scorer with 20 tries this season, completes the back three.
