The regional court magistrate, Ms Gela, sitting in Zastron, found a 25-year-old accused, Kamohelo Motseki, guilty on a charge of murder and sentenced him to 18 years’ imprisonment.

Epic and meticulous investigation by Cst. R. M. Dirane of Zastron Detectives, working together with court prosecutor Mr Muller, ensured that justice was served for the 23-year-old victim, Tshepo Johannes Senyoko, who had just turned 22 years old the previous day when he met his untimely death.

On 09 December 2024 at about 18:15, Zastron police were called to the scene of a murder on the street in Ezibeleni informal settlement in Matlakeng, Zastron. On arrival, they found the victim lying on the floor with two stab wounds. He was later declared deceased on the scene by EMS. A case of murder was registered, and the suspect was arrested early the following day.

It was discovered during trial that the victim asked the suspect for a cigarette, and an argument ensued before the suspect fatally stabbed the victim with a knife. One of the bystanders called the police, which led to the arrest and successful prosecution of the accused.
