*BROTHER AND MOTHER TO APPEAR IN COURT FOR R**E OF 9-YEAR-OLD IN LWANDLAMUNI VILLAGE, MOPANI DISTRICT*

*POLOKWANE* - An 18-year-old man and his mother aged 35 are set to appear in the Letsitele Magistrate's Court on Monday, 25 August 2025, in connection with the r**e of a 9-year-old girl at Lwandlamuni village in the Letsitele policing area under Mopani District.

The brother appeared in court on Friday, 22 August 2025, where he was remanded in custody on a charge of r**e. His mother was arrested on Saturday, 23 August 2025, and charged with failure to report a crime.

It is reported that on 20 August 2025 at approximately 08:00, police officers on duty at N’wa Mitwa satellite police station were approached by community members from Lwandlamuni village who brought both the victim and the suspect to the station.

The community members informed the police that the victim had disclosed to them that she had been sexually assaulted by her brother on 8 August 2025 at their family residence.

During the police interview, the victim alleged that her brother called her into the house where the incident occurred.

A case of r**e has been registered at Letsitele Police Station and has been transferred to the Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigation.

The brother appeared in court on Friday, 22 August 2025, where he was remanded in custody. The mother was subsequently arrested on Saturday, 23 August 2025, for failure to report the crime and will join her son when they both appear in the Letsitele Magistrate's Court on Monday, 25 August 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.

*POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM, ILLICIT CI******ES AND NAB TWO SUSPECTS DURING OPERATIONS AT MOLETLANE, AND MANKWENG*

*POLOKWANE*: Two male suspects aged 35 and 43 were nabbed separately for possession of unlicensed firearm, dealing and possession of illicit ci******es at Moletlane and Mankweng policing areas in Capricorn District, during operations conducted on Friday, 25 July 2025.

In Moletlane policing area, the members received information about the suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The leads were thoroughly followed, which led to the arrest of a 43-year-old male suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm at his residence at Ga-Rakgwatha Village.

Meanwhile , a 43-year-old male was arrested by members of Provincial Flying Squad at Ga-Thoka in Mankweng policing area for possession and dealing in illicit ci******es.

Police report indicates that the team received information regarding the suspect selling illicit ci******es at the identified address. They accurately followed the information, and the suspect was found in possession of 29x boxes of Re*****on Gold illicit ci******es at an estimated street value of R72 000. He was immediately arrested.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest of the suspects and applauded the members for confiscating the unlicensed firearm and the illicit ci******es.

The suspects will appear separately at Magatle Periodical Court and Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Monday, 28 July 2025.

Police investigations are ongoing.

*A 33-YEAR-OLD MALE SLAPPED WITH HEFTY SENTENCES FOR MURDER AND ATTEMPTED MURDER*

*POLOKWANE:* The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the hefty sentence handed down by Mokopane Regional Court on Tuesday, 15 July 2025 against a 33-year-old man, Collins Ledwaba for the murder of Nini Joseph Movundlela and attempted murder of other four victims, all residing at Moshate Village, in Mahwelereng Policing area.

The trial court found that on 2021-10-29 at around 10:10, the accused who was driving a taxi, he intentionally drove over at five people, and one person died at the scene. The other four victims were rushed to the local hospital with serious injuries, at Moshate Cross Road in Mahwelereng Policing area. This is after a taxi violence incident between the maxi taxi drivers and the taxi drivers at the area.

Police were notified, and a case of murder and four counts of attempted murder were opened. The same day, the accused was arrested.

Subsequent to the outstanding investigation skills by Detective Sergeant Price Baloyi of Mahwelereng Investigating Unit, the accused was sentenced to effective 18 years imprisonment for murder and four counts of attempted murder. The sentence was handed as follows:
* Count 1, murder: 15 years imprisonment
* Count 2, attempted murder: 03 years imprisonment
* Count 3, attempted murder: 03 years imprisonment
* Count 4, attempted murder: 03 years
* Count 5, attempted murder: 03 years imprisonment.

The court ordered that sentences on count 2, 3, 4 & 5 to run concurrently.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has appreciated the investigating officer and everyone involved until the accused was sentenced.

*TWO SUSPECTS DUE IN COURT FOR APRIL HOUSE ROBBERY IN GIYANI*

*POLOKWANE* – Two suspects are set to appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 17 July 2025 following their arrest in connection with a house robbery that took place in Giyani in April 2025.

The breakthrough came during an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, by Giyani Detectives in collaboration with the Mopani District Trio Task Team at Mphagani village. A 36-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of a cellphone believed to have been stolen during the robbery.

Subsequent investigations led police to a farm in the Letsitele policing area, where a second suspect, aged 42, was apprehended. He was positively linked to the same incident.

The pair face charges of house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.

Meanwhile, the search for additional suspects remains underway. Police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that may assist in locating the outstanding suspects. Tip-offs can be provided anonymously via the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, the MySAPS App, or by reporting to the nearest police station.
