Avoid unnecessary movements, says former BoZ boss

Former Bank of Zambia Governor Caleb Fundanga has urged Zambians to avoid unnecessary movements in view of increased fuel prices to cushion expenditure.

Last Thursday, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) increased pump prices of petroleum products by K4.54 per litre for petrol, K4.68 for diesel and K3.93 for kerosene.

Dr Fundanga, who is Zambia Revenue Authority board chairperson, said people should consider sharing vehicles with others to save on fuel costs.

“Fuel has become very expensive, don’t continue behaving as if the commodity is still cheap. “Economise by sharing vehicles with others to save on fuel and avoid unnecessary movements to reduce expenses,” he said.

He said Zambians should become economically resilient and only move when need arises to cut down on fuel expenses. “People should always find an alternative when there is a crisis. The Ukraine-Russian conflict has had
