In today’s fast-evolving world, digital transformation is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. Zambia has embraced this shift with the adoption of SmartCare Pro, a national electronic health record system under the Ministry of Health (MOH). As a proud champion of digital health, I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact SmartCare Pro is making across our health system.

Key Advantages of Digital Health Care in Zambia:

1. Improved Patient Record Management
SmartCare Pro allows for real-time recording and easy retrieval of patient data. Health care workers can now access a patient’s medical history from any facility using the system, ensuring continuity of care—especially vital in emergencies or when patients move between districts.

2. Better Data for Decision Making
Digitized health records provide accurate, up-to-date statistics that empower health managers and policymakers to make informed decisions. This improves resource allocation, disease surveillance, and response strategies at local and national levels.

3. Efficiency and Time Saving
Gone are the days of bulky paper files and long patient queues. SmartCare Pro has reduced paperwork, streamlined workflows, and improved overall service delivery in clinics and hospitals.

4. Enhanced Monitoring and Accountability
With built-in tracking tools, the system promotes transparency and accountability in drug dispensing, service delivery, and reporting. This is a powerful tool for reducing pilferage and improving compliance with treatment protocols.

As a SmartCare Pro Champion, I remain committed to promoting digital health at our facility and among my peers. Together, we can build a future where technology supports better health outcomes for everyone

As a nurse, I've witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of societal issues that plague our community. Reviewing hospitals data revealed alarming trends: rising teenage pregnancies, gender-based violence, abortion cases, defilement, and r**e. These statistics stirred something within me, compelling me to break my silence.

I realized that I have a responsibility, not only as a healthcare professional but also as a citizen, to speak out against these injustices. I want to be a voice for the voiceless, to advocate for the vulnerable, and to contribute to creating a better world.

This personal experience has ignited a passion within me to drive positive change. I'm driven by the desire to:

- Protect and empower marginalized communities, especially women and girls
- Challenge harmful societal norms and promote gender equality
- Provide education and resources to prevent exploitation and abuse

Through my work, I aim to inspire others to join me in this fight, to create a ripple effect of positive change that will resonate throughout our community.

STAKEHOLDERS RAISE ALARM ON DEFILEMENT CASES.

Stakeholders have raised alarm on the rise in defilement cases being reported in Eastern Province and other parts of the country.

Advocacy for Child Justice Executive Director Josphat Njovu has told Breeze FM News that the organisation has noted with concern that the same people who are supposed to protect young girls are the ones taking advantage of them.

Mr. Njovu notes the need to implement the Children`s Code Act so that girl children are protected.

He expressed worry that despite the law being in place, very few convictions are being secured in the courts of law.

Meanwhile, Young Women Christian Association - YWCA Eastern Region Coordinator Dorothy Ndlhovu says it is worrying that the province is recording the cases of the vice at an alarming pace.

Ms. Ndlovu says there is need for various stakeholders to work together in curbing the vice.
