FRA IS FULLY FUNDED- AGRIC MINISTER REUBEN MTOLO.

The government has confirmed funding the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to ensure the smooth purchase and payment of maize supplied by farmers across the country.

Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo confirmed that FRA has been fully funded and equipped to buy all the maize produced during this year’s farming season.

Speaking during a tour of Manyinga and Kaula satellite depots in Manyinga District, Mr. Mtolo said no farmer will be left out of the exercise, stressing that government appreciates the effort and sacrifices made by both small-scale and commercial farmers in sustaining national food security.

His assurance comes amid growing concern among farmers over delayed payments after supplying maize to FRA depots in various parts of the country.

Mr. Mtolo said the maize buying and payment process will continue until every farmer who delivered grain to the agency has been fully attended to.
