UPND Mkaika aspiring Member of Parliament Michael Mchotsa Banda has donated over 800 building blocks to Kanjeza Primary School to support the construction of a standard kitchen and protect the school’s meal programme.

The donation follows a warning from Mary’s Meals that feeding support would be withdrawn unless proper kitchen facilities were built. Banda’s intervention is expected to secure meals for hundreds of vulnerable pupils and improve learning conditions.

Kanjeza Primary School holds personal significance to Banda, as it is where he completed his primary education and sits on land donated by his late grandfather.

The handover was witnessed by UPND constituency and ward leaders, traditional leaders, school authorities, PTA members and pupils, who praised Banda’s consistent support to the community.

Speaking at the event, Banda said investing in education is investing in the future of Mkaika and called on communities to work with government in uplifting schools.

The donation has been welcomed as a major contribution to education, child welfare and community development in the area.

A United Party For National Development -UPND- Member in Msanzala constituency Dr Douglas Lungu encourages farmers to prepare in advance for 2024/25 farming season.

Dr Lungu says in the previous farming season, farmers in the area and most other parts of the country didn't harvest well in the area due to droughts.

He says this caused panic to most some families as they don't have food.

Dr Lungu has however thanked government for timely delivering of the farming inputs under the Farmer Input Support Program -FISP-.

He says it is anticipated that this year's farming season will have favourable rains according to the Zambia Meteorological department report.

Dr Lungu further encourages everyone to take part in farming as it is a business and a way of securing country's food basket.
