TWO MPANSHYA SUBJECTS DIE IN ROAD ACCIDENT
Two pedestrians of Mpanshya's Nyangu Village have died on the spot after being hit by an overspeeding sino truck at Luangwa Market Bridge yesterday.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga has told Chongwe Community Radio news that the accident which occured around 16:30, claimed the lives of 19-year-old Violet Mwanza and Margret Mwanza, aged 17.
Mr Hamoonga says the accident occured when the driver of the sino truck and trailer registration numbers AIC 8354 and trailer BAD 5610T, Alinot Mutangama, aged 28, of Lusaka's Garden Compound lost control due to excessive speed and hit into market tables and several pedestrians then collided with a stationary Zambia Revenue Authority Toyota Hilux before overturning.
The police Spokesperson identified the pedestrian survivors as follows;
1. Female Evelyn Mwale, age unknown, sustained a fractured left leg and deep cut on the right leg.
2.Female Regina Mwanza, aged 21 – sustained slight injuries.
3.Female Juvenile, aged 17 – sustained slight injuries.
4.Female Elizabeth Njovu, aged 20 – sustained slight injuries.
5.Male Daniel Nyangu, aged 55, of Meanwood, Lusaka – sustained slight injuries.
He says the injured victims are admitted to the Katondwe Mission Hospital, where the deceased are also lying in the mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination and burial
