Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old woman of Kalomo District, whose body was discovered days after she went missing with both eyes and private parts removed.
The deceased, identified as Anivess Madubansi of Mawaya Compound, left home on January 16, 2025, around 21:30 hours and her body was later found on January 18, 2025.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed the arrests of Mazuba Moono, the deceased’s former boyfriend, alongside Lawrence Mihela and Obert Halumba.
He says a fourth suspect, Luka Lundu, aged 41, of Riverside, Kapiri-Mposhi District, was apprehended earlier in the course of investigations.
Mr. Namalongo explains that Mazuba Moono was arrested on November 26, 2025, around 00:30 hours in Siamani Village, Chief Nyawa area, Kazungula District, while the other two suspects were later apprehended the same morning around 06:00 hours within Kalomo Town.
He revealed that upon being warned and cautioned, Mazuba admitted to participating in the killing with his associates, one of whom is still at large.
Mr. Namalongo says the prime suspect disclosed that after the murder, they removed the body parts which they intended to sell, but allegedly threw the parts into a river after they could not find a buyer.
Mr. Namalongo has since assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that police remain committed to bringing all those involved to justice.
