THERE'S NO SHORTCUT TO STATE HOUSE-After 13th August, Brian Mundubile will go back to point zero: forming a political party and starting from there.

What is happening currently, is nothing but desperation to form government without capacity. From PF, to FDD, to now NRPUP: this shows instability as a leader, lack of seriousness and vision.

Otherwise, like I said: Mundubile overates himself, that's a weakness.

ONE KILLED IN MPIKA ROAD CRASH

By Lazarous kaunda

One person has died while three juveniles sustained injuries in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, along the Great North Road at Danger Hill area, about 28 kilometres north of Mpika town.

The police report said the accident happened around 11:20 hours and involved a Howo Sino truck and a Toyota Spacio.

The Howo Sino truck, bearing registration numbers ADF 841ZM and ADF 842ZM, property of Dayun Logistics Company, was being driven from north to south by 43-year-old Chongo Katandule of Makeni area in Lusaka. The truck sustained damage to the front bumper, right headlamp and grill. The driver escaped unhurt together with two passengers who were on board.

The Toyota Spacio, bearing registration number ALC 6977, was being driven from south to north by 40-year-old Moses Sokoni of Kamwanya Compound in Mpika.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage to the front part.
Police said Mr Sokoni sustained fatal head and body injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mpika Urban Clinic. His body has since been deposited at the clinic mortuary, awaiting postmortem examination.

Three juveniles who were passengers in the Toyota Spacio sustained injuries and were admitted to Michael Chilufya Sata Hospital.

These include a four-year-old boy, Moses Sokoni, who suffered a deep cut on the left eyebrow, a bruised face and general body pains; a seven-year-old girl, Janet Sokoni, who sustained waist pains and general body pains; and a 15-year-old girl, Mutale Sokoni, who suffered bruised knees and general body pains.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred after the driver of the Howo Sino truck failed to keep to his near side and collided with the oncoming Toyota Spacio.

Police have since instituted investigations into the matter.

A 40-year-old man from Sansamwenje Village in Isoka District has stabbed his wife multiple times with a pair of scissors before throwing himself in front of a moving truck.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer, Dennis Moola, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred on 5th January 2026 at around 05:00 hours in Chief Kafwimbi.

The victim, Philisy Nakazwe, aged 42, suffered a cut on the forehead and multiple deep wounds to the head and face after being attacked by her husband, Royd Simumba, aged 40.

Police say the attack followed a domestic dispute that began on 4th January 2026 when the victim wanted to visit her relatives within the same village, but her husband objected.

Despite this, she attempted to go to her parents’ home, prompting the suspect to follow her and bring her back before leaving for a drinking place in Isoka Central Business District.

Mr. Moola said that when the suspect returned home around 22:30 hours, the argument resumed and escalated into violence. In the process, he allegedly stabbed his wife several times with a pair of scissors.

He added that after realizing the victim was bleeding, the suspect fled the scene and ran towards the roadside, where he reportedly threw himself in front of a moving truck.

The driver tried to avoid hitting him, but he was brushed by a trailer, sustaining a deep cut to the head.

He says the wife cried for help and later lost consciousness.

The couple’s landlord rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion and found her lying in a pool of blood. With the help of neighbours, she was taken to Sansamwenje health post.

Mr. Moola said that other community members later took the husband to the clinic for treatment.

Police officers who rushed to the area found that both the victim and the suspect had already been taken to Sansamwenje health post.

Medical reports were issued, and both were referred to Isoka District Hospital, where they are currently admitted.
