Economist Noah Kabwita has disclosed that Mulungushi textiles needs an available market before it is reopened.

Speaking to Power FM News, Mr kabwita says this will ensure sustainable operations of the facility.

He says that lack of an available market to buy what will be produced at the facility can negatively affect its revenue generation capacity.

Mr Kabwita has noted that some products such as uniforms of some civil servants can be bought locally but there is need to have more customers already available to purchase other products that the facility will be manufacturing.

The Zambian Government has suspended funding for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Senior Men’s National Football Team because of its continued poor performance in recent international matches.

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, together with the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ), said there must be accountability and a clear reason for using public money when results remain disappointing.

Speaking kn a statement, the Ministry said it is concerned that the team has not improved, even though the government has been spending a lot on accommodation, air tickets, bonuses, and the coach’s salary.

The Ministry added that while the government will continue supporting sports, it expects good results that match the level of investment made using taxpayers’ money.

FAZ has been asked to submit a detailed report explaining what steps are being taken to improve performance, how the coach’s contract is being monitored, and why government funding should continue. The association has until 20th October 2025 to respond, after which the government will decide whether to continue financial support.

Meanwhile, the National Sports Council of Zambia has warned other sports bodies to maintain high performance standards and announced plans to introduce a National Association Performance Criteria to help track results and accountability.

A 39-year-old man from Katete District, Eastern Province has been sentenced to 40 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 9-year-old girl and infecting her with syphilis.

George Mbewe was sentenced by the Chipata High Court after appearing for sentencing before Resident Judge Charles Kafunda.

During mitigation, defence lawyer Blessed Mbewe, from the Legal Aid Board, pleaded for leniency, stating that the convict was a first offender who deeply regretted his actions.

However, Judge Kafunda noted that the offence was particularly grave, as Mbewe had defiled a girl under his guardianship, betraying her trust and exposing her to a serious sexually transmitted disease.

Judge Kafunda said the 40-year sentence serves as a warning that any betrayal of trust by guardians will be met with*severe punishment.

In a separate case, the same court sentenced a 41-year-old man from Lundazi District, Francis Banda, to 35 years imprisonment for indecently assaulting his 14-year-old biological daughter.

Bobby East Opens Up About His Toughest Year and Powerful Comeback

Zambian rapper and XYZ Entertainment CEO, Robert Chunga, popularly known as Bobby East, has opened up about a side of his life fans rarely see his struggles, financial setbacks, and remarkable comeback.

Speaking on this week's edition of Kenny T 1 on 1 Podcast, The award-winning artist, celebrated for his dominance in music and business, revealed that just a year ago, he faced serious financial challenges that nearly brought his empire down.

Behind the fame and success, Bobby East says he was “pretty much bankrupt,” as the weakening economy, high rental costs in dollars, and expensive imports took a toll on his companies.

“It was my biggest fear not being able to provide,” he shared, describing how difficult it was to keep things afloat. “You either fight through it or you give up. For me, giving up wasn’t an option.” he explained.

Determined to bounce back, Bobby East and his team restructured their businesses, shifting focus from physical stores to online operations and event management a move that helped them recover and rebuild.

“We had to reformulate and re-strategize,” he explained. “The lessons were tough, but we learned. The one thing I’ll never do is give up.”

Now back on his feet, the rapper says he’s more focused than ever on growth in music, business, and personal life.

With renewed determination, Bobby East declared, “The only thing that can stop me is my life. If I’m still alive, I’m coming after what I want.”
