PAUL'S PRAYER TO UNDERSTAND THE MAGNITUDE OF GODS BLESSINGS AND POWER.

Ephesians 1:18-20
"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe." KJV

Ephesians 1:18-20 is part of Paul's prayer for the Ephesian believers, expressing his desire for them to understand the magnitude of God's blessings and power in their lives. This passage follows Paul's description of the believers' spiritual blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:3-14) and his expression of gratitude and praise to God (Ephesians 1:15-17).

Paul prays for the believers' hearts to be enlightened, enabling them to understand the hope and inheritance they have in Christ.

The passage highlights the believers' hope and inheritance, which are rooted in God's glorious riches and power.

Paul emphasizes God's incomparably great power, which is available to believers and enables them to live a life worthy of their calling.

This passage reinforces the believer's identity as a child of God, called to live a life of hope purpose and power.

Pray for yourself and all believers for the eyes of your understanding to be enlightened to comprehend the power of his resurrection.

We are students of the Apostles, pray that as you study the epistles, the spirit of wisdom and revelation will quide you further and deeper into fuller acquaintance with that understanding.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This verse tells us that God's love for us is unconditional, unwavering and unshakeable.

Nothing can separate us from His love, no matter what challenges or difficulties we face, for in all things we are more than conquerors.

OBEDIENCE TO PREACHING THE GOSPEL FOR THE SALVATION OF MEN

Text: Acts 8:5
"Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them." (KJV)

Philip obeyed the Lord's command to go to Samaria and preach the Gospel.

Philip's message was centered on Jesus Christ, emphasizing the importance of preaching Christ to all nations.

The people of Samaria received Philip's message with eagerness, demonstrating the hunger for spiritual truth in this region.

Obedience to God's command is essential for effective ministry.

Preaching Christ is at the heart of the Gospel message.

Like Philip, we should be obedient to God's call to share the Gospel with others.

Our message should be centered on Jesus Christ, emphasizing His death, burial, resurrection and ascension.

We should be sensitive to the spiritual hunger of those around us, sharing the Gospel with compassion and urgency.

JESUS CHRIST OUR SALVATION

Matthew 1:21
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." (KJV)

This verse highlights three things
1. The Purpose of Jesus' Birth
The angel Gabriel announced to Joseph that Mary would give birth to a son and His name would be Jesus.
2. The Meaning of Jesus' Name
The name "Jesus" means "Yahweh is salvation" or "The Lord saves."
3. The Mission of Jesus
Jesus was born to save His people from their sins, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6-7.
Jesus was born to save humanity from sin and its consequences, offering salvation and redemption to all who believe in Him.

Working Out Your Salvation

Philippians 2:12 exhorts, "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."(KJV)

To grasp the essence of this verse, it's crucial to consider the context in which it was written. A biblical text can have only one correct interpretation, which is the meaning the author intended to convey to the original audience.

A person departing from the faith doesn't imply loss of salvation. Rather, it signifies a believer's deviation from sound doctrine into false teachings or demonic influences.

Salvation is secured through faith in the Gospel of Christ, believers are to be taught and equipped for ministry. However, during this growth process, they may be led astray by false doctrines or demonic influences which constitutes departing from the faith.

A Christian who holds incorrect beliefs, such as the notion that wearing trousers or jewelry is sinful, remains saved. Their erroneous beliefs don't negate their salvation. Similarly a believer who mistakenly thinks they can lose their salvation won't lose it due to their misconceptions. God's truth supersedes human error.

Philippians 2:12 is often misinterpreted to suggest that believers must work to maintain their salvation. However, Apostle Paul's intent was to encourage the Philippians to continue obeying his instructions even in his absence.

In verse 13, Paul clarifies that it is God who works in believers, enabling them to will and do His good pleasure. This emphasizes that good conduct is the fruit of God's work in the believer not a means to attain or maintain salvation.

Paul further instructs the Philippians to do everything without complaining or arguing, striving to be blameless and harmless, like shining lights in a crooked world (Philippians 2:14-15).

Therefore, "working out your own salvation" means bringing forth the fruit of salvation in the midst of a corrupt world. This is achieved by yielding to the desires of the Spirit, shining as lights in darkness and reverencing God.

Key Takeaways:
1. Salvation is secured through faith in Christ, not by works.
2. Working out your salvation means reflecting God's glory in a corrupt world.
3. Good conduct is the fruit of God's work in the believer.

Confession:
"I will work out my own salvation, reflecting God's glory in the midst of a corrupt world."

The Book of Life, A Symbol of Eternal Salvation

Revelation 3:5 states, "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels."(KJV)

God's plan, as revealed in Scripture, has always been to offer humanity eternal life through Jesus Christ. This gift is received by faith and rejection of it results in spiritual death. The apostles, prophets and Psalms all communicated this message, which was later explained by Jesus Himself (Luke 24:44-48).

The Book of Revelation, therefore, does not introduce a new message but rather reaffirms the same message of salvation through Christ. The phrase "he that overcometh" is unique to John and refers to those who have believed in Christ or been born of God. It is not about overcoming through works but by faith in Christ.

The "Book of Life" mentioned in Revelation is figurative, symbolizing Christ Jesus Himself. Faith in Christ is what puts one's name in the Book of Life.

Moses used the "Tree of Life" as a symbol of Christ, and John taught that Christ is the source of eternal life (John 1:4, 1 John 1:1-2, 1 John 5:11-13).

Jesus' statement, "I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life," assures believers of their eternal security. Once saved, one's name can never be removed from the Book of Life. This is the security of eternal life.

Key Takeaways
- The Book of Life symbolizes eternal salvation through Christ.
- Faith in Christ, not works, is what overcomes.
- The Book of Life is figurative, representing Christ Himself.
- Eternal security is assured for believers.

Key Verses:
- Revelation 2:7
- Philippians 4:2-3
- 1 John 5:11-13

Confession:
"My name is in the Book of Life. It can never be blotted out."
