The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security has clarified that they did not grant permission for the Patriotic Front (PF) to hold their scheduled political rally in Lusaka today. According to the Ministry's Public Relations Officer, Collins Hikalinda, it was emphasized that Mr. Jack Mwiimbu, the Minister, did not approve the public rally. The senior PF members who met with the Minister were expected to provide accurate and truthful information.

Hikalinda stated that the PF was directed to submit a fresh notification to the Office of the Inspector General of Police, indicating that there would be no public rally held by the Patriotic Front party today. He further expressed the Ministry's concern regarding the misrepresentation and misinformation surrounding the guidance given by the Minister to the PF regarding their notification to the Police.

Earlier in the week, three senior members of the Patriotic Front Party, led by Mr. Raphael Nakachinda, met with the Minister to follow up on their appeal for permission to hold the public rally, which had not been approved by the Police. The Minister informed them that he had considered their appeal and guided them to resubmit a notice to the Inspector General of Police, specifying a new date and venue in accordance with security concerns.

Hikalinda accused the senior PF officials of distorting the Minister's guidance and spreading false information to their party members and the general public through various media channels.

Billionaire Elon Musk has set eyes on Zambian investment just a few hours after President Hakainde Hichilema had an engagement with the team from SpaceX and their Starlink team on sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America.

Elon Musk says he is looking forward to providing Starlink service to the people of Zambia.
Mr. Musk was replying to a Tweet by Special Assistant and advisor to President Hakainde Hichilema on Economic, Investment and Development Affairs Jito Kayumba who posted that President Hakainde Hichilema’s engagement with the team from SpaceX and their Starlink initiative will escalate Zambia’s position in the digital economy.

“Looking forward to providing Starlink service to the people of Zambia!” Mr. Musk wrote.

Mr. Kayumba added that this would also enable universal access to Internet and other technologies while indicating that he is Grateful for the initiative from visionary entrepreneur Elon Musk.

HH URGES SUPPORTERS NOT TO DESPAIR.

President Hakainde Hichilema has urged United Party for National Development (UPND) supporters not to despair following election loss in Luangwa but put on their boots and go out to sell the ruling party’s programmes.

The President congratulated the Patriotic Front (PF) for retaining the Luangwa Council chairmanship in Thursday’s by election.

PF retained the chairmanship after its candidate, Lawrence Shaba, obtained 4,075 votes against UPND’s Arthur Lungu, who got 3,767.

“Congratulations to the Patriotic Front for retaining the Luangwa Council chairmanship by—election. This is a democracy that offers two faces of the coin; a triumph or a loss."—President Hichilema.
