MONGU POLICE CHARGE EDGAR LUNGU, MUSICIANS WITH RIOTUS BEHAVIOUR

Police in Mongu have charged musicians MOSES NG'ANDWE, popularly known as Chester , FELIX PHIRI popularly known as FELIX NDANGENI INSHILA and comedian WINSTON NGOSA, popularly known as IDC Light Comedy, with riotous behavior and possession of offensive weapons.

The three are among 17 people charged.

The 17 suspects are currently detained at Mongu Correctional Facility following their arrest.

Western Province Police Commanding Officer GODFREY MWANZA says the suspects have been formally charged with the two offences.

Mr. MWANZA says the suspects are, however, yet to appear in court as police have submitted the case dockets to the National Prosecution Authority -NPA- for perusal.

Police arrest two women accused of insulting President Hichilema!

A 29-year-old and a 32-year-old woman have been arrested in Nyimba District for allegedly insulting President-elect Hakainde Hichilema on social media.

A third suspect remains at large.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba identified the detained suspects as Rosemary Tembo, 29, and Afelida Tembo, 32, both of Masangano Village in Chief Ndake's area.

A viral video allegedly shows the women, along with a third identified only as Aselida, insulting Mr Hichilema and his voters following the general elections.

Mr. Mweemba says the suspects claimed during interviews that they committed the offence while drunk.

He warned that individuals who habitually insult others will face the law once found guilty.

The two women will be transferred to Chipata Central Police Station for case compilation and are expected to appear in court on charges of hate speech and insults.

Police have confirmed that former Lunte MP Mutotwe Kafwaya died on the night of 14 August during a security operation at a Kabulonga residence, authorities have confirmed, ending five days of uncertainty since his family first said they'd lost contact with him.

According to a CJOC statement signed by Inspector General Graphel Musamba, a joint task force was "welcomed with gunfire" upon arrival at the premises and returned fire, fatally wounding an unidentified man.

His body was only matched to Kafwaya after social media reports of a missing person prompted a check, and his family positively identified him this evening.

This account differs from what Brian Mundubile had said publicly, that soldiers shot Kafwaya inside a bedroom during a raid and took him to Maina Soko Military Hospital, a claim government had specifically denied at the time.

Kafwaya's son had appealed directly to President Hichilema over the weekend, and the Human Rights Commission had searched four police stations without finding him.

His name was notably absent from an earlier government statement naming 11 others arrested at the same premises.

Those 11, including Bishop Trevor Mwamba and George Chisanga, remain in custody facing treason-related charges.

PRESIDENT LUNGU’S SON-IN-LAW FACES LIFE IN PRISON JAIL SENTENCE

Patrick Mwansa, the husband of former Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s daughter, Tasila Lungu, among those facing treason-related charges following a sting police operation in Kabulonga.

According to reports published by News Diggers, police have disclosed that Mwansa and other individuals arrested during the operation are facing offences related to treason, which carries life imprisonment sentence under Zambian law.

The developments come after police confirmed that former Transport Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya was shot dead during the same operation, sparking widespread shock and plunging the entire country into mourning the slain lawmaker.
