🌸A little tough love for anyone hunting for opportunities 🌸

As a person actively hunting for opportunities, some of you are hunting with the communication skills of someone who is actively trying to avoid being found!! 😕

You have no business locking your social media profile, turning on disappearing messages, blocking calls from unsaved numbers and, more especially, approaching a business line or potential collaborator with a basic:

“Hey.”

Genuine question: What response do you expect after sending “Hey”?

Do you expect them to greet you back? And then what? 😂

Or are we waiting for Part Two of a professional conversation that you apparently forgot to write?

These people probably receive hundreds of “Heys” every day. Why should yours stand out?

If you are reaching out for an opportunity, introduce yourself. Say what you do. State why you are reaching out. Be specific about what you want.

Nobody should have to interrogate you just to understand why you are in their inbox.

Communication is a basic necessity for anyone who is serious about taking their life, career and opportunities to the next level. The way you introduce yourself, articulate your ideas, network, follow up and engage with people can determine whether an opportunity moves forward or ends at “Hey.”

The world does not owe you an opportunity simply because you have potential. You have to learn how to communicate that potential.

Learn how to communicate.
Learn how to network.
Learn how to present yourself professionally.

Invest in knowledge. Invest in yourself.

Because sometimes, the opportunity wasn't the problem. Your approach was.

September feels like a quiet turning of the page 🤍>>>

A new month, carrying the softness of beginnings and the wisdom of everything we survived before it. August may have taken some things from us, changed us, stretched us, but here we are , still becoming.

May September find us a little more intentional, a little more courageous, and a lot more trusting of the journey.

May doors open without us having to force them. May prayers find their answers. May the things we have quietly hoped for begin to take shape.

And if nothing else, may September remind us that life can still surprise us beautifully.

I don’t want one identity to eat all the others. 🤍

I don’t want my career to consume the woman I am outside of work, or my ambitions to silence the parts of me that simply want to live, love, create, rest, and exist.

I want to be a collection of many things , ambitious and soft, driven and human, successful and still learning.

I want room for every version of me to breathe.

Because I am not just one title, one achievement, one relationship, one mistake, or one chapter.

I am a whole person, made up of many identities , and I refuse to let one become the entirety of me.❤️

Oh, one of the most beautiful memories from my childhood definitely has to be Smooth Talk. 🥹❤️

The performances, the guests, the conversations, and above all, the delivery. There was just something special about watching Mr. Innocent Kalaluka, AKA Smooth IK, do what he did best.

Tonight , as he bids farewell to ZNBC after 24 incredible years (older than my age even 😂 ) I’m grateful that I got to experience and witness a significant part of that journey.

And watching the final episode of Smooth Talk? Very emotional, especially for a young media professional like me. 🥹

Smooth IK has laid such a strong foundation and set the bar incredibly high. His contribution to Zambia’s media industry is nothing short of GOATed. 🐐🎙️

Thank you for the memories, the lessons, the inspiration and for showing generations of us what excellence in media can look like.

What a legacy. What a career. What a legend. 🇿🇲❤️
