Lusaka UPND warns indiscipline officials
February 13th, 2023
LUSAKA - THE UPND has with immediate effect suspended two councilors from Kabwata constituency for abrogating party rules and regulations when they led a team of protestors to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit, DMMU without following laid down procedures.
UPND Lusaka district chairperson Savious Ndaba who identified the duo as Mainda Simaata of Kamwala ward 5 and Bwalya Chishala of Kabwata ward 6 said the UPND as a ruling party has rules and regulations needed to be followed by its officials and those elected through its brand.
Mr Ndaba said the UPND does not condone lawlessness from members especially elected leaders using their positions in undermining the efforts of the government whose policies are sponsored and supported by the party.
He added that it is unfortunate that the two councilors opted to take an antagonistic approach to a situation which would have been resolved using normal laid down procedures and rules of engagement thus placing both the governing party and government into disrepute, a situation he said will not be condoned.
“The UPND has rules and regulations to be followed when aggrieved. We shall not condone any form of lawlessness from amongst and by our people especially those elected on the party ticket. An undisciplined organization can never serve its purpose and as a ruling party, any level of indiscipline will not be allowed”, he said.
He further warned officials intending to cause discontent that his administration will not lie idle but take drastic measures against such erring officials with a view to maintaining order and discipline in line with its constitution and disciplinary code of conduct.
“Anyone found wanting will be disciplined regardless of status. If a Councilor, MP or a structure party official is found wanting, the party disciplinary code will come into effect and appropriate measures will be meted against such a one. The two Councilors w
