If you have ever watched a film with me, you already know it is not always fun.

I pause films a lot.

Sometimes I rewind.

I do it to understand what really happened.

I like to see how a shot was taken.

I like to study how a scene was edited.

If you have watched a film with me on Netflix or on a mobile, you can confirm this.

Even in the cinema, I wish I could go back sometimes.

I wish I could enter the control room and replay a scene.

I do not just watch films for entertainment.

I watch films to learn.

I want to learn how a director made a choice.

I want to see how a cinematographer pulled a shot.

I want to notice how the colour grading was done.

I want to understand how the lighting was positioned.

A non-filmmaker may not see these things.

They just want to enjoy the film.

And that is fine.

But as a filmmaker, you must watch every film like a student.

Look at how the actors move.

Watch how they pause before saying a line.

Notice how their eyes react before their mouths speak.

Pay attention to their timing.

How do they express emotion without shouting?

How do they listen in silence and still hold attention?

Study how the editor cuts from one scene to another.

See how the music builds emotion without saying a word.

Look at how the costumes speak before the characters even do.

Watch how light and shadow tell their own story.

Every film is a classroom.

There is a lesson in every frame.

A serious filmmaker does not just watch.

He studies.

Keep a notebook beside you.

Write down scenes that stand out.

Write what made them powerful.

Pause and replay difficult scenes.

Ask yourself why a director chose that angle.

Ask why a scene started late or ended early.

Observe how background sounds affect the mood.

Notice the rhythm of dialogue and silence.

Watch how the camera moves with emotion.

Check how locations and props help the story.

Study how extras behave in the background.

AI is transforming film production by automating tasks across pre-production, production, and post-production to increase efficiency and unlock creative possibilities. It is used for script analysis, AI-powered casting, generating visual effects, streamlining editing, and even creating entirely new scenes from text prompts. While still developing, AI is a tool that helps filmmakers, from increasing the accessibility of filmmaking to augmenting the capabilities of large studios.

Pre-production

Script development: AI can analyze successful screenplays to help identify trends and suggest ideas for new scripts.
Casting: AI tools can analyze databases and facial recognition software to find actors who fit a specific role based on performance, features, and other criteria.

Production design: AI can be used to quickly generate production design elements like set props and posters.

Budgeting: AI can assist in managing budgets by analyzing various costs and warning of potential overspending.
This video discusses how AI is changing filmmaking, including its potential uses in scriptwriting and storyboarding:

Production
Automated cinematography: AI-powered camera systems can perform autonomous movements and optimize lighting, enabling complex shots.

On-set support: AI can provide real-time feedback on lighting and camera angles, assist in decision-making, and help monitor performances.
Post-production

Visual effects (VFX): AI can generate complex visual effects and environments more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional methods.

Editing: AI can automatically correct errors, make color adjustments, and even identify and suggest the best takes, which speeds up the editing process.

Scene generation: AI is becoming capable of generating entire video scenes based on text prompts.

QUESTION:
SHOULD AI BE ADAPTED AS A GAME CHANGER TOOL FOR ZAMBIAN FILM OR BE NEGLECTED AND STICK TO THE ORDINARY WAY OF PRODUCTION?

Below is a video from photo illustration generated using AI...
