High fuel prices have hindered business progress, vote to relieve yourselves from suffering, urges Kasama Archdiocese Vicar General
A SENIOR priest in the Archdiocese of Kasama has urged electorates, particularly men, to exercise their right to vote in next Thursday's General Election, saying the ballot provides an opportunity for citizens to relieve themselves from the current suffering.
Lutanda Radio Station reports that the Vicar General said this during this, this morning during the 2026 Kasama Archdiocesan Catholic Men's Organization Conference at Lubushi Minor Seminary.
The Station quotes the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Kasama, Very Reverend Father Rodgers Fikwamo, as having said that, the cost of fuel has hindered business growth and worsened the economic hardships facing many Zambians.
Father Fikwamo also expressed concern over what he described as a lack of transparency in this year's crop marketing season.
He said the Church had observed that the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) was not adequately prepared for the marketing season, adding that the situation had been made worse by the government's delayed announcement of the programme.
The Vicar General further lamented the poor state of the road network in Northern Province, saying the region had been neglected and that the deteriorating infrastructure continued to affect people's livelihoods and economic activities.
He also appealed for peaceful elections, urging citizens to maintain peace and order as the country heads to the polls on Thursday.
This year's Kasama Archdiocesan Catholic Men's Organization Conference is being held under the theme: "Men, the Faces of Saint Joseph in the Modern Families", reports Lutanda RADIO Station.
