HOW CAN WE PREVENT SEXUAL ABUSE?

When it comes to sexual abuse, prevention is the key. So, what can parents do to prevent child sexual abuse? Here are five tips that will help you keep your children safe.

1. LEARN AS MUCH INFORMATION AS YOU CAN ABOUT PHYSICAL AND SEXUAL ABUSE.

Learn who is most likely to commit crimes of abuse, why adults abuse children, etc. Seek out preventative information about child sexual abuse

2. LISTEN AND TALK WITH YOUR CHILDREN.

Communication is the most important principle in keeping your kids safe from sexual abuse. Create a climate in your home where kids are not afraid to share information about things they may be embarrassed or afraid about. Be willing to share what you know about sexual abuse and how to prevent it with your children. Tell your children the basics such as, " No one has the right to touch your body without your permission."

3. TEACH THE 5 PERSONAL SAFETY BOUNDARY RULES.

Start early with your children (in an age appropriate way) and set clear safety boundary rules for your children. The following list gives the five personal safety boundary rules.

No one should look at the private parts of your body.
No one should ask you to look at the private parts of their body.
No one should touch the private parts of your body.
No one should ask you to touch the private parts of their body.
No one should show you pictures of private parts on the TV, in magazines, on the computer or on a cellphone.
4. HELPFUL TIPS WHEN TALKING TO YOUR CHILDREN.

Here are some tips to help you when you talk to your child about body safety:

Use proper names for all their private parts. (Many children are not able to tell about the abuse because they do not know the proper words to use and tend to use nicknames for their private areas.)
Safety rules apply to ALL adults, not just to strangers. Emphasize that NO ONE should try to break boundary rules.

- The Covid19 pandemic has affected the economic, financial and health sectors of Zambia as well as other third world countries.
-The rampant spread of the virus can be attributed to various reasons for example; Unavailability of affordable face masks and sanitizers to the less privileged,Ignorance of citizens towards covid19 guidelines and lack of sensitization concerning the virus and vaccine.
-Hence ,to contribute towards the fight against the pandemic whilst simultaneously empowering youths,I decided to have face masks locally tailored by uprising seamstresses and distributed towards the less privileged.
-Additionally,small flyers with information regarding the spread and prevention of the virus will be made and circulated to curb the lack of sensitization.
-The fight against Covid19 requires maximum team effort. Therefore, everyone of us has a role to play in the eradication of the virus so as to make Zambia a safer better place.

Covid 19 and face mask awareness campaign by Nachinda

Properly fitted masks can help prevent the spread of the virus from the person wearing the mask to others. Masks alone do not protect against COVID-19, and should be combined with physical distancing and hand hygiene. Follow the advice provided by your local health authority.

AWARENESS ABOUT STREET CHILDREN:
Street children miss out on education, proper shelting, proper clothing, clean water etc.. These children have to be helped to have access to clean water, proper shelting, clothing and education cause they deserve it like any other kid that has access to all these mentioned.
They are mostly abused physical or emotion by fellow street kids or people. This I saw it with my own eyes where street kids were abused physical and emotionally by people cause they only asked for food. It's wrong to abuse someone cause they look dirty or look like someone who might steal.
They also want to be treated normal like other kids: They also want to be loved and cared for like any other child. They want someone to protect them and provide for them.
Girls are the ones that suffer the most e.g. being r***d by unknown people or fellow street kids. Being sold to work as private househeplers or to do prostitution and that's so wrong to do a homeless child.

COMBATING CRIME IN ZAMBIA
• Poverty; poverty is one of the major factor that is leading to various crimes such as stealing because a huge number of people barely have access to their basic needs as well as other important necessities. Therefore, I will be reaching out to a number of people in order to help them with basic needs such as food. By doing so, a number of people will be reached out to.
• Lack of recreational facilities; this is also one of the major factor which is leading to rapid growth of crime. A huge number of people basically has nothing to do during there free time and end up involving themselves into crimes such as drug abuse. Being an advocate for combating crime, I will dedicate one day of each month to be a sports day so that I can keep the young people preoccupied with great activities as well as promoting sports activities by financially supporting them. One of my future goal is to put up a gym facility in a number of places.
Also putting up playgrounds for children In various communities so that they can interact on different levels.
• Lack of skills to help them earn a living; this is a factor that has also amounted to rapid growth of crime because stealing becomes the only way for their survival.
Since this project is an on going one, I will make sure through my capacity that at least five people are enrolled into vocational training so that they can attain some skills and give them a job. This simply means that I am going to reach out to at least five families. This is one of the major ways that will reduce crime because there basic needs will be provided for through their own basic skills.
This will also enhance community development.
• Lack of knowledge of what crime is and what it constitutes; ignorance is one of he factors
that lead to high crime rate but if I advocate for crime combating through educative campaigns, it will give knowledge to a lot of people.
It being an on going project, I will wait for schools to open as well as wait for communities to be conducive for such campaigns since reaching out to school children is one of my target for change in our communities.

NEGATIVE IMPACT OF CORRUPTION ON ZAMBIAN SOCIETY
✅Police have sometimes failed to maintain law and order because of corruption.

✅When court officials get involved in corruption, justice is interfered with case records disappear, trials are delayed and the outcome of cases nolonger depends on the sufficiency of the evidence available, but on the amount of bribes offered therefore, justice is denied.

✅Leaders and political parties who do not deserve to the elections may come into power because they give money and other materials for the porpose of winning votes.

✅When corruption takes place in offices such as National Registration Office, Passport Office and Immigration office, people will I'll intentions may easily enter the country and eventually endanger the security nation.

✅The Impact on corruption is clearly seen on money laundering activities, tax evasion and other economic crimes which lead to economic instability. This deprives the country of revenue.

✅Bribes are paid in whatever form by candidates to be admitted into learning institution instead of being admitted on merit.

✅ Some people pay council and land ministry of lands official bribes in order to get land illegally. This has lead unfair distribution of land and unplanned or prohibited settlements in most urban areas in zambia.

✅ Tender procedures are sometimes not followed when awarding contracts. Potential suppliers are being disqualified simply because they have not receive a bribe from them.

ORGANIZATIONS THAT FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION
ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION (ACC): It reports to the commission comprising of 5 members who direct the work of the commission.
POLICE SERVICE: They are responsible in dealing with abuse and corrupt practices.
I could like to partner with the ANTI-CORRUPTION because it is the official institution established by the government to fight against corruption.
BE A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN AND BREAK THE CHAIN OF CORRUPTION
