We join Zambia in mourning the loss of one of our revered traditional leaders, His Royal Highness Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people.

As Cooking with the Zikos, a brand deeply passionate about culture, heritage, and the preservation of our intangible traditions, we are saddened by this loss. Chiefs are more than leaders, they are custodians of identity, history, values, and the stories that shape who we are as a people.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ngoni Royal Establishment, the Ngoni people, and all his subjects across Zambia during this difficult time.

May his legacy continue to inspire unity, cultural pride, and the preservation of our rich African heritage.

Rest well, Chief Mpezeni the IV 🇿🇲

Mr. Ziko and big bro in 1906 😂😂😂.

These are freedom fighters😁.

Thus far, the Lord has brought us —still alive and breathing, and that alone is a reason to praise Him 👏. Always thank God.

Hey Food lovers! We are on episode 7 of Intangible Heritage!

This time we had Aunty Billy take us down traditional cooking lane with a meal that is indigenous to the Leya people of Mukuni Village in Livingstone, Bushmeat cooked in Booma or Mungongo nuts and served with Red Sorgham and Kombolyebuyu( Tindi Ngoma)..........

We love that we are building a digital archive of our culture, one recipe at a time. Thank you for coming with us on this lovely journey.

Resurrection Sunday in the Ziko household started off like this!

We had three Marys screaming "he has risen, he has risen!" Our lovely daughters dressed as their favourite Bible character for Sunday service at Mount Zion Christian centre today.

We pray every food lover on this platform had a Sunday as blessed as ours.

The 6th episode of intangible heritage was a mixture of emotions, fun, childhood memories and family food culture.

Shot in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Kaunda, Mrs. Z's sisters came together to re-live a regular day of growing up in the Kaunda household. Ultimately, the team honoured their husband (Mr. Ziko) with a ka mini feast of traditional foods, cooked the way mama did for her husband. Love filled and delicious!

A man with many wives has an abundance of food and wealth😁.

In our next episode of Intangible heritage, Mr. Ziko hosted some special guests and he inturn had a glimpse of how Mrs. Z’s life was like growing up in a house full of girls. The food, the laughter, the noise, the culture.

Look out for the full episode to be up soon!

We are halfway through the intangible heritage series and we celebrated the milestone with a semi grilled, semi smoked tender leg of lamb!

Consider this reel a short break.
