FAZ APPOINT FORMER GS AS NEW SG

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed Machacha Shepande as its new General Secretary, taking over from Reuben Kamanga. The appointment was made during an Executive Committee meeting held yesterday, according to details.

Shepande is no stranger to football administration, having previously served as FAZ General Secretary as well as at the National Sports Council of Zambia. He also worked with the African Union Sports Council.

Interestingly, and some might say conveniently, the new FAZ Chief Administrator happens to be the immediate elder brother to the current First Lady, Mrs. Mutinta Hichilema. As if that were not enough, FAZ President Keith Mweemba is none other than the former lawyer to the Republican President and FAZ Patron, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema. Pure coincidence, of course because in Zambian, family trees and legal briefs surely have nothing to do with administrative decisions.

The Association is yet to make an official statement on the appointment.

ZESCO UNITED UNVIEL CHILONGOSHI AFTER HIS DEBUT IN THE CHARITY SHIELD.

ZESCO UNITED WELCOMES ZACHARIAH CHILONGOSHI✍️🏆🤝

ZESCO United Football Club is thrilled to announce the official signing of international defender Zachariah Chilongoshi on a two-year loan deal from FC Leopards, formerly Prison Leopards Football Club. Chilongoshi brings a wealth of experience, having spent two seasons with NAPSA Stars and featured in prominent tournaments such as the CHAN 2020 and as well as the 2024 COSAFA outing.

In a remarkable debut, Chilongoshi showcased his skills against Power Dynamos in the Charity Shield match, helping ZESCO United secure a 2-0 victory and claim their 6th title. His impressive performance has already made a significant impact on the team.

The club warmly welcomes Chilongoshi, affectionately known as "pato pato..." to the ZESCO United family. With his addition, the team is poised to dominate the league and bag more titles.

Zesco are now ready to register both players with contracts signed on two-year deals ahead of CAF Confederation Cup competition.

CHIPOLOPOLO CHARGE INTO CHAN PREPARATIONS AT UNILUS STADIUM

Chipolopolo have been hard at work this week at UNILUS Stadium in Lusaka as preparations intensify for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to run from 2 to 30 August 2025 across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The technical bench led by head coach Avram Grant has been conducting rigorous training sessions throughout the week focusing on fitness, tactical shape and team cohesion ahead of the continental showpiece.

Zambia has been drawn into Group A alongside hosts Kenya, Congo DR, Morocco, and Angola. Chipolopolo will kick off their CHAN campaign on 7 August against Congo DR, followed by a meeting with Angola on 10 August.

The third match is against Morocco on 14 August, before concluding the group stage with a potentially decisive tie against the hosts Kenya on 17 August.

Hazel Natasha Nali has joined Zambian Premier champions Zesco Ndola Girls Football Club on a two years loan deal from Green Buffaloes Women Football Club.

Nali is returning to the pitch after 2 years absence after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury prior to the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
