Comoros record a 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan to book a place in the second round of Olympic Qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

They beat Sudan 13-0 in the second leg and 17-0 in the first leg.

They will face Nigeria in the second round.

COPPER QUEENS TO CAMP IN ALGERIA AND WILL PLAY TWO FRIENDLY MATCHES THERE

The Copper Queens will not break camp after the four nations tournament according to FAZ President Keith Mweemba but will continue fine tuning the WAFCON preparations before proceeding to camp in Algeria.

The Copper Queens will proceed to North Africa where the team will be camped in Algeria for about two weeks and play two friendly games there and then go on a chartered flight straight into Morocco.

At WAFCON, the Copper Queens have been drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria women’s national football team, regional rivals Malawi women’s national football team and Egypt women’s national football team.

The tournament will run from 26 July to 16 August in Morocco and will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with four automatic qualification places available for African teams.

Wami Katanga reports that ZESCO United have reached an agreement to re-appoint George Lwandamina as head coach.

Should this materialize, Lwandamina, 62, will return at the helm of Zega Mambo for a fifth stint at the club after the club approached him to take the mantle for the rebuild.

Lwandamina is currently the head coach of Nchanga Rangers.

FAREWELL MATCHES SHOULD BECOME A THING

On Saturday, Evans Kalulu Kangwa bid farewell to his playing career that saw him play for teams like Happy Hearts, Nkana, Hapoel Ra'anana, Gaziantepspor, Arsenal Tula, Qingdao Hainiu, Abha and Green Eagles.

A career spanning over 15 years and saw him play in Zambia, Israel, Turkey, Russia, China and the Middle East.

The match was organized by a team led by his wife, Vivian Sakala Kangwa, like they say behind every successful man there is a powerful Woman.

A very beautiful event that saw Evans Kalulu Kangwa play with some of his former club and National teammates and the new generation of players.

The 2012 AFCON winning squad came together led by skipper Christopher Katongo who rolled back the years and scored a beautiful goal.

National team players like Klings Kangwa, Lubambo Musonda, Lameck Banda, Benson Sakala, Dominic Chanda, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Joseph Sabobo Banda and Chipyoka Songa all took part.

A fairly good crowd came through to watch, the whole thing was just beautiful with Drimz, Ruff Kaida, Shombo International among others providing entertainment.

Chipolopolo skipper Fashion Sakala, Coach Perry Mutapa, Coach Wedson Nyirenda, Coach Kape Melissa Saili, FAZ head of Media and Communications, Nkweto Tembwe, The head of administration among other high profile figures showed up.

Ms Kangwa and Destiny Kangwa the first born presented Evans with a lifetime achievement award.

Going forward this should become a norm and not played retiring by just disappearing from the game.

We need to make celebrating players contributions to the game a thing and make these farewell matches big.

Kudos to Ms Kangwa and her team for pulling off such a beautiful event.

To Evans, Thank you, Mr Kangwa, Goodbye and enjoy your retirement.

Reports in Malawi indicate that Wedson Nyirenda (Wada Wada) has been appointed as the new head coach for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after reaching an agreement on personal terms.

Evans Kangwa will play once again alongside his Nkana strike partner Ronald 'Sate-Sate' Kampamba, for the last time.
