Zambia Army Gears Up for Major Agricultural Expansion!
The Zambia Army is making big moves to boost food security, intensifying land preparations for the 2025/2026 farming season at its 10,000-hectare Solwezi Farm.
Partnering with the Zambia National Service (ZNS), the Army is clearing an additional 100 hectares, aiming to cultivate a total of 300 hectares by the end of the upcoming season—tripling the 100 hectares from the last season!
Brigadier General Peter Sinkala, Director General of Cooperatives, Resettlement and Estates Branch, recently inspected the progress and expressed satisfaction with the expansion, highlighting Command's directive to significantly upscale maize production and other crops.
To further enhance efficiency, an industrial maize shelling machine has been handed over to the Farms Directorate. This will not only increase productivity and reduce labor costs but also minimize grain damage and waste.
With a successful harvest of over 500 metric tons of maize from 100 hectares in the 2024/2025 season, the Zambia Army is clearly committed to becoming a major contributor to Zambia's national food security. Get ready to see the Army grow more than just its ranks!

He pledged to transform the once-grand structure into a dignified, modern facility that will support both military operations and tourism.

“Today, we do not just receive a building; we reclaim a legacy. We restore pride. We renew our commitment to service and excellence,” Lt Gen Zyeele said.

And Livingstone Mayor, Her Worship Ms Constance Nalishebo Muleabai, welcomed the move, stating that for years, the building was abandoned and posed safety concerns.
