When people lack knowledge they perish.The tragedy in Zambia is the heartbreaking ignorance among the Pensioners resulting in un necessary suffering.
Pension is your inalienable right.
During your working life a certain percentage of your salary is set aside for the rainy day. Therefore, when you retire for goodness sake don't confront your or take to Court employer. Your employer has no Locus Standi or legal right to operate the Pension fund, the Pension Scheme Regulatios Act,1996 authorises only the Trustees. Eg Napsa or Public Service Pension Fund Trustees.
This is the most beautiful legislation that the Government of the late F.T.J. Chiluba. It protects the Pensioner.
The message to the former employees of Stanchart and Barclays Bank now Absa.
For goodness sake don't confront your former employers but the Trustees

It's time retirees distinguished between Pension and Terminal benefits.
Pension is regulated by Pension Scheme Regulations Act, 1996 and
Terminal benefits by the Employment Act.
And therefore, it's important to know the right horse to flog at harvest time to avoid paying un necessary legal fees.
Never, never sue an employer for pension because it's provided for from the time you are employed up to retirement age.
The custodian of the pension is the Trustees.
For example, Napsa(National Pension Scheme Authority) or Public Service Pension Fund are both Trustees.
It's the Trustees that will sue for pension and not you.
Your task is to demand from the Trustees and it is the Trustees to sue your employer for stolen or under capitalized pension.
Why then the ex Barclays Bank and Stan chart employees either have sued or been sued by their former employer? Employer has no legal right or locus standi to decide or discuss pension with it's former employee.
The duty of employer is only to contribute.
Why have the lawyer or Judge not advise pensioners to demand their dues from the Trustees who are supervised by PIA(Pension and Insurance Authority).
Listen! there never can be a dispute over pension unless it's stolen.
Terminal benefits are paid by your employer when your services are terminated.
Should he fail to pay you can sue directly or engage a lawyer.
