A Ballistics forensic expert in the Guntila Muleya murder trial told a judge that the AK-47 gun he produced in court is the same one that was withdrawn from Northmead Police Post.

Isaac Kalimashila testified in cross-examination yesterday that even without the serial number, he can confirm that the AK-47 exhibit is the same one that was withdrawn from the police station.

This is in a case four men, among them two police officers, are accused of shooting dead Mr Muleya, who is former Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) director general.

In May, the court had heard from another witness, a police reservist, that he was asked to withdraw an AK-47 rifle from Northmead Police Station by murder suspect Caleb Zulu, a police officer.

Nakacinda to serve three-year jail term!

The Lusaka High Court has upheld the judgment of the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that sentenced Tonse Alliance Secretary General, Raphael Nakacinda, to three years imprisonment for defamation of the President.

High Court Judge Anna Onnonuju has also issued a bench warrant against Mr. Nakacinda, who was not present in court.

On Monday, October 20, 2025 , Mr. Nakacinda was reported to be unwell when his case involving alleged tribal remarks came up before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court.

In this matter, Mr. Nakacinda was found guilty of accusing President Hakainde Hichilema of summoning judges to his residence to persuade them to create a one-party state, during the hearing of a judicial review application by eight PF Members of Parliament who had challenged Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti’s decision to expel them from Parliament following the nullification of their seats.
