Revival of KCM to create jobs -HH

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the coming back to life of Konkola Copper Mines- KCM- will create more jobs for Zambians and increase the country's tax base.

President HICHILEMA commended Vedanta Resources for working out the issue surrounding KCM outside the courts with government as that was the best way out.

Speaking during the re-launch of KCM in Chililabombwe on the Copperbelt, The President also thanked the people on the Copperbelt for their patience as the government and Vedanta Resources worked hard to bring KCM back to life.

He also said Vedanta Resources and government will also work together in other areas such as the energy sector.

And Vedanta Resources Chief Executive Officer CHRIS GRIFFITH said that Vedanta stands ready to bring KCM to the way it was before.

Meanwhile, Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE described the handing back of KCM to Vedanta Resources as an emotional moment for him.

Earlier, Copperbelt Minister ELISHA MATAMBO praised the development at KCM and thanked President HICHILEMA for reviving the mining sector on the Copperbelt.

And ZCCM-IH Chief executive officer NDOBA VIBETTI said the ZCCM IH is pleased that it was able to resolve its differences which led to the mining asset been resuscitated.

A representative of the youths CHILESHE MWAMBA who called for the coming back of Vedanta at KCM said the relaunch of KCM under Vedanta is an historical event that will lead to more jobs for the youths.
