Mundubile will win August 13 elections, he was chosen by God - Chifumu Banda

TONSE Alliance member Chifumu Banda has prophesied that Mporokoso Member of Parliament Brian Mundubile will be president on August 13 this year because he was chosen by the creator of heaven and earth.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Banda urged Zambians to take care of their voters' cards and National Registration Cards (NRCs) in order to vote for the Tonse Alliance candidate.

"On August 13, wake up early and vote. No amount of intimidation will stop us. This country deserves better leadership and we believe Brian Mundubile is the right choice," he said.

Banda also dismissed claims that he had paid the K100,000 presidential nomination fee to contest the general election under FDD.

"My president is Mundubile, I have principles. I cannot betray my own, those spreading misinformation will not shake me. I am Tonse through and through,” he said.

He also accused fellow opposition leaders of attempting to destabilise Tonse Alliance by spreading lies.

"Despite the propaganda, we remain united and we will make sure that we defeat those spreading lies, trying to divide us," he said.

BREAKING NEWS: ZAMBIA REJECTS TRUMPS $1 BILLION HEALTH FUNDING LINKED TO ACCESS TO CITIZENS DATA

Zambia has become the latest African nation to reject a proposed health funding package from the administration of Donald Trump, citing concerns over data sovereignty and the protection of citizens’ private information.

According to government sources, the funding offer was reportedly tied to conditions that would have granted external access to sensitive national health data, including patient records and public health surveillance systems. Zambian authorities have described the conditions as intrusive and inconsistent with the country’s laws governing privacy, cybersecurity, and national security.

Officials in Lusaka emphasized that while Zambia remains open to international partnerships in strengthening its healthcare system, such cooperation must respect the country’s constitutional safeguards and data protection frameworks. They stressed that public health collaboration should not come at the expense of citizens’ confidentiality or national control over strategic information.

The decision places Zambia among a growing number of African states reassessing foreign aid agreements that include strict compliance measures or data-sharing requirements. Analysts say the move reflects a broader shift across the continent toward asserting digital sovereignty and negotiating aid on more balanced terms.

Government representatives reiterated that Zambia values its longstanding diplomatic relations with the United States but will not compromise on matters affecting national interest. “Support must align with our laws and protect our people,” one official said, adding that alternative partnerships and locally driven health financing models are being explored.

The development comes at a time when many developing nations are strengthening data governance policies amid rising global concerns over privacy, cybersecurity threats, and the strategic value of health information in the digital age.

Further details about the specific funding amount and program scope have not yet been publicly disclosed.
