CONFUSION CONTINUES!!

Confusion and pandemonium surges high in the dramatic funeral of the late former Zambian Republican President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu. From the time he passed last week on Friday to date, there has been a tussle between government and the family failing to come to an understanding.

Latest reports indicate that the family of late President Lungu through their family lawyer Counsel Makebi Zulu has announced that they don't want the seating president Mr. Hakainde Hichilema anywhere near the remains of his predecessor.

Tension is tightening, the country is in suspense and the world is watching as these events unfold hoping for a peaceful resolution of this issue.

Youth Revolution

CELEBRITIES AND POLITICS.

The doppest freshest name in the game, Hon. Mulaza Mark Kaira recently laid bare his plans to contest for a parliamentary seat in 2026 following the release of his new hit single "The Youth Revolution." Whether Mack 2 is a youth or a worth candidate for Nchanga constituency is a discussion for another day.

For this article I just want to dwell on celebrities and politics. From time immemorial, we've had celebrities from the entertainment industry who throw themselves into politics and Macky 2 is not the first one neither will he be the last one. My observation through the years has been that, of the many people who come from the entertainment world into politics, most of them don't make it in politics.

I've always wondered why these figures who have built a name for themselves, they have a mass audience and they are adored by the masses for their craft don't make it in politics. I've thought long and hard about this and I came to one conclusion. It is because people are simply jealous of them. Let me elaborate what I mean.

People look at these celebrities and the success they've made in their careers and now they have the audacity to come into politics to make it there as well, No way! Human nature will always want to limit people. People are always threatened that you are winning wherever you go while they remain stagnant so they'll try to create an equilibrium. You can't be successful in music and also come into politics and be successful. That's why whenever a comedian or a musician talks about politics, people will shut them up telling them "Just stick to comedy or music."

Ask Saboi Imboela, Bobi Wine, Petersen, Diffikot to name just a few and they'll testify to this harsh reality. However, there are few exceptions who transitioned from entertainment and made it into politics and I pray Mulaza becomes one of them. Macky 2 is a man of the people. His immense contribution not only to music but a*o the welfare of this country cannot go unmentioned. He has touched so many lives through Hope foundation and many of his philanthropic activities.
